Animal-Balancing Contest (evening, FHT - first floor lobby)

Rory arrived in the lobby balancing a tank with a wee turtle in it against one hip, a box from J,GOB in the opposite arm, and a flying puppy on a leash leading her.

She tied Vladdie to the leg of a table, set Yoda's tank and the cake down, and looked around to see what she still needed to set up.

[~~Yes, even crack-addled ideas like this need OCD threads. Wait for 'em.~~ They're up, but play on the contest itself won't start until 5:30 EST.

ETA: And yes, it originally said it was in the afternoon. This is now set about 8:30 PM FHT.

"I did," Marty said with a small grin and then a quick kiss on the cheek. "You were great."

There still might have been a little woe.

"Is everything okay?" Angela asked. "Did you want to balance stuff, too? Yoda kind of tickles."

Marty looks a little ashamed to admit this. "I'm kind of missing-"

and the rest turns into a mumble.

Angela bent further in. "Who are you missing?" she asked, probably loud enough that most people around them could overhear.

"Camilla," Marty said in a small voice and bit of an eye roll. "I know it's silly but I kind of miss having her around."

Angela didn't laugh.

"Of course you do," she said as though it was the most logical thing in the world. "She knit."

"Does she ever send you postcards or anything?"

"No," Marty said sullenly. "She can knit, but apparently she can't write."

Marty looks at the ground. "At least I know she's happy, right?"

"Right," Angela said. "And you have me. And Min. And, um --" Angela tried to remember the pine tree's name. "Shannon? Who is adorable."

That finally gets a chuckle out of Marty. "Sharon," he says gently correcting her, "and yes I love visiting Min and you are wonderful. I just miss her sometimes, y'know?"

"I get that," Angela said thoughtfully. "But you can't get another pet, can you? I mean, with Liz'z allergies, and summer all up in the air."

"No I can't," Marty agreed a little sadly. "It's not the right time and if I had a single it would be different. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to take visiting rights on Min."

"You can take her to the record store with you tomorrow, if you want?" Angela offered. "Or come up to my room after this and play with her."

"Sounds like a plan," Marty said giving her a quick kiss. "I'll catch up with you later."
