2nd floor common room, Tuesday night

In an attempt to provide a temporary distraction from exam stress, a chick flick and pizza party is shaping up in the seeming center of the universe, the second-floor common room. Pizza boxes containing a variety of round pies of cheesy goodness have been propped open on the coffee table, and there's a stack of DVDs on top of the TV.

Right now, Angela is setting up Rote Mühle, the story of a penniless writer who falls in love with a prostitute in turn-of-the-century Berlin. The story's a little drippy, but the costumes and the music are to die for.

Parker comes in wearing pajamas and kimono, and carring a bowl of popcorn. "Oooh. I love this movie. Especially the lead guy. He reminds me of Obi-Wan." She curled up on the couch next to Angela and considered which pizza box to open.

Angela tilted her head at the screen. "I kind of see what you mean," she said. "But these clothes are hotter."

"I love the music."

"The music makes it. I know they based it on an old opera, but honestly, who can listen to those outside a theatre?" Parker decided on the Hawaiian pizza, and snagged a piece, then got up to get drinks from the fridge. Bringing back two and handing one to Angela, she settled in with a happy sigh. "'Her name was... Velvette.'"

Isabel tossed a kiss over to Parker. "Thanks for sharing your date Saturday night. I appreciated it."

Parker caught the kiss, and half-bowed where she was sitting. "No problem. It gave me an excuse to dance with Constable Fraser. And I grabbed your roomie, later. So we're even. Did you have a good time?"

Jaye carries in a toaster. That looks like a sheep.

And upon seeing Angela, Jaye looks a the toaster and demands, "TALK TO HER."

Angela waves to Jaye. And to the toaster.

"Um. Hi? Pizza?"

"No, thanks," the toaster says.

Parker waved to Jaye, then blinked at her demand, and took another bite of pizza.

"Hi!" says the toaster.

Isabel wanders in wearing flannel pjs and carrying a bag of chocolate kisses. She took a spot on the couch and looked at the screen. "So what are we watching?"

"Rote Mühle," Angela said, pointing at the screen. "See, he wants to be a writer, but he's never been in love, and he just met a bunch of bohemians, and now they're singing a song from that musical with the nun."

"Is this going to end with me needing tissues? Because they seem happy now. But I'm sure by the end, someone will be dead."

Peter walked down to the second floor. He was done studying for Government for the night, so he needed entertainment.

Instead he found that epic singing movie that he had never cared to see. Oh well. It's not like the conversation ever died down enough for him to pay attention to whatever was on the TV anyway.

"Hey, people. What's going on tonight?"

Isabel threw kisses. The chocolate ones.

Peter caught them. "It's not often that I walk into a room and get kisses from people who aren't my girlfriend, but I think this works," he said, taking the foil off one.

Angela waved. "Hey, Peter. Want pizza?"

"Also, do you think making people emo counts as a superpower?"

"Sure, thanks," Peter said, heading for the pizza.

"And that depends. Is there an energy ray involved?"

Parker waved to him. "Pizza and swooping music. How're you doing?"

Alanna came into the room, Faithful on her shoulder and her eyes a little glazed over.

Angela waved. "Hey. Sit. Watch with us."

Peter saw Alanna walk in, blinked, and pulled something out of his pocket.

A few seconds later, he had something written on his forehead. "Happy?"

Parker waved to her. "Hey. Pizza. Take some."

Marty slips into the common room and grabs a slice and flops down on the couch. For some reason that bohemian writer reminds him of someone.

Maybe if he had a beard.

"What part are we at?"

"The duet in the giant turtle," Angela said happily, snuggling up to him.

She sighed as the fireworks popped onscreen. "This is way too romantic."
