Early afternoon, Friday, 1st floor lobby

Well, it's sort of Xander's common room now. In the way that it belongs to everybody, and most of his associations with it involve certain red-clad authority figures more than other students, and there's no kitchen. But anyway.

There's a kitchen in 121. He made brownies. Yes, from a box. They're on the table by the tv.

Which is playing a classic black&white First Mister episode of Mr. What, because it's a little late to try convincing anybody around here that he's not a geek.

With a purple frog. Who's watching from his tank on a conveniently-placed end table. Actually Jeremiah probably has the better view.

"Email?" Bridge frowns. "Like, text-only?"

"Yeah, text-only. I don't...Idon'thaveacomputer."

"He didn't..." Bridge facepalms. "He did." He frowns. "You should've been assigned one, if you didn't have a computer before joining SPD."

"It all happened really fast. I guess that got lost in the shuffle or...something."

Z was thankful they gave her towels and a new toothbrush. Also, she thinks they figured that if they gave her expensive electronics, she would pawn them and disappear. But she's not telling Bridge that. He'll probably get a 'Watch out for the criminal' memo soon enough.

"Well, look," Bridge says. "If he doesn't send you one? I'll totally build one for you. Because a computer is a useful thing to have."

Z has to be honest. "I can't pay you."

"You're SPD," Bridge shrugs. "Don't worry about it."

"Are you--you're serious?"

"Totally," Bridge smiles at her.

"I'm starting to warm up to this SPD thing."

Bridge just grins and gives Z a thumbs-up.

"So, I've been meaning to ask you--was I supposed to be issued gloves? I went through my stuff twice and I couldn't find any, but I never see you without them."

"Oh, um. No. The gloves are..." he trails off, looking uncertain. It's one thing to talk about his powers to people who are from different places or times, but to someone from his own reality? That was different. Most people back home didn't think humans were supposed to have abilities like his.

"What, a fashion statement?"

"Not exactly," Bridge mumbles.

"Birthmark shaped like the sign of the beast?" Z teased, mentally thwapping herself for pushing it. If he doesn't want to talk about it, she should leave him alone.

"No, it's... I have, um, these abilities? And the gloves help control them." He bites his lip nervously and waits for her response.

"...what kind of abilities?"

"I can, uh, sense psychic energy."

"Are you for real?"

"...yeah?" Bridge says, nervously.

"You actually have powers?" Z leaned closer and said, "So do I."

"That's," Bridge says, "that's... wow." Oh, very eloquent. "So what do you, uh?" he waves a hand vaguely.

"I can make replicates. Of me." And now, she thinks grimly, the shunning and throwing of markers. Except maybe not the last, as she's not in second grade any more.

"Cool." Bridge says, with a smile. "That'd be useful, in a fight, for sure."
