Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

Dean grinned. "Does buckshot work on those? Or would I have to hit it over the head with a grammar textbook?"

"Even worse," Willow said. "You have to diagram a sentence or it will haunt you for the rest of your life."

"If that's so, then my ass is well and truly cooked," Dean said wryly.

Willow did not glance in the direction of said ass. That would be far too forward.

"Well, maybe if you had friends who could get your back and distract the participle with Mad Libs."

"Like someone who has lots of moral support experience with weird shit?" he asked.

"Possibly," Willow said. She grinned. "Of course I don't know anybody who might be like that."

"Nah, me either." He smiled and winked at her.

Willow blushed. "So how's it been going? Get attacked by any non-grammar items?"

"Just by a couple of sparring partners. Nothing that I didn't ask for. You? No murderous junk food or teacups or anything?" he asked, saying the most absurd haunted items he could come up with.

Hopefully he didn't just jinx himself.

"Nope," Willow said. "Though I did get a pass for the library!"

She said this in much the same way most people would announce having won the lottery.

"Oh. That's... great," Dean said, some of his bafflement at the level of glee for a library coming through.

"That's where they keep the books," she added, just in case he needed help seeing why this would be exciting.

"Yes. Books." He paused. "Yay, reading."

"Exactly!" she beamed as though he'd just agreed with her.

He couldn't help it, he grinned back. She was infectious. "Congratulations on your newfound ability to acquire even more books."

"Special Collections," Willow said. "The good stuff. At least it'd better be or else I'm going to make this face - " she pouted " - and possibly write a sternly worded letter about false advertising."

Not according to Logan and Xander "I don't think so," Willow said. "More like the books that have actual knowledge in them."

She followed this up with a look that she hoped conveyed wink-wink-nudge-nudge to a fellow demon fighter, but she could've also just been coming off like she was hungry.

Ah, those kinds of books. "I guess I'll know who to come to then when I need some actual knowledge then," he said with a wink.

He grinned. "Sweetheart, I can be as nice as you want me to be." He paused, wondering if... "Actually, I might have a hypothetical question that someone with actual knowledge might be able to give me a hypothetical answer to."

"Oo!" she sat up straighter. "I might hypothetically know someone who could do that."

"Say someone hypothetically needed some kind of... panic button. Or some kind of monitoring spell or talisman or something. Nothing too invasive or anything, but that if the someone who has it were to, say, get attacked or kidnapped or something, it would... let a designated alarm raiser know." Dean stopped, hoping that that was clear enough for Willow to understand without actually giving away any secrets he wasn't supposed to.

"Oo, well somebody could try combining a protection and a locator spell," Willow said. "Or a communication spell combined with an item of protection and maybe a little bit of mint because communication spell components can smell like nobody's business though I've always felt if they were combined with privacy items there could be - "

Willow realized she was babbling. In public. She gave a sheepish grin. "Hypothetically?"

Dean slowly smiled widely. "I think I've found the right girl for the job. Hypothetically."
