Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB. He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie. That looked interesting. The planes looked familiar too. Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled. Rescuing Corproral Smith? Did they make movies about World War II now?

"Um... have you met any mutants here?" Jamie asked, also looking a little nervous himself.

"I met somebody who claimed to be a half-demon?" Willow offered, not sure if that counted.

"What if I told you that you already had met a mutant?" Jamie said cautiously. "Um. Namely me."

Willow tilted her head curiously. "I guess that'd depend on what you meant by mutant?"

"Well see I have this power that... ah hell. I'll just show you."

Jamie thumps his fist on the coffee table rather hard and suddenly there's another Jamie sitting next to him.

"This is what I do," Jamie explained waving at his duplicate. "I can take kinitec energy and duplicate myself. From where I'm from? Mutants aren't exactly liked very well. That's why I didn't tell anyone sooner."

[ooc:going to bed. Catch up tomorrow?]

Willow gasped, then looked scientifically fascinated. "Wow! How cool! Is one of you a vampire?"

[ooc: Works!]

Jamie blinked at the statement. "Um. No. Why would one of me be a vampire?"

"No reason!" Willow said, perhaps too brightly. "So - so is one of you the evil one? Only: no goatee, so I guess not?"

The two duplicates looked at each other and sighed.

"No. No evil ones," Jamie sighed.

"At least not yet," said his duplicate.

"Not. Going. To. Happen." Jamie shot back.

"Says you."

Jamie sighed and absorbed his duplicate. "They tend to be argumentative, but not evil."

"Wow," Willow said, her eyes wide. "So when you say you're of two minds about a subject, there's really two minds? Can you read each other's thoughts? Oh! Oh!!! Can you go to more than one class at the same time, because that would be so cool!"

"I have an empathic link to my duplicates ~~which disappears whenever necessary by the writers~~ but no direct control over them. However whenever I absorb a duplicate I gain any memories and skill they might have picked up since he was created," Jamie said with a small grin. "So yes, I can go to more than one class at one time."

"Awwh," Willow pouted. "Why can't I have duplicates??"

Jamie sits back fully relaxed on the couch, now feeling better that he's gotten the mutant thing out in the open.

"It has it's moments, but it does cause some problems on occasion," Jamie said with a sigh. "Usually whenever I create a duplicate it has a different part of my personality which means it won't necessarily be helpful. So just because I can create a dupe to go to class, doesn't mean that it is going to show up."

"Huh," Willow got thoughtful. "I wonder if you could train them?"

"It's possible. Maybe," Jamie said. "That's part of the reason why I'm here. To get better control of my power."

"Well I do not judge you on your multiple-having, mutant lifestyle," Willow said. "I've hung out with vampires and demons. As far as I can tell, you're much nicer."

"That's good to know," Jamie said feeling even more relieved. "Where I'm from being a mutant is more likely to-"

Jamie stops cold and gives Willow an amazed look.

"Wait. Did you say vampires and demons? Where the heck are you from Rosenberg?"

"Sunnydale, California?" Willow replied, hoping that looking cute might cover a lot in terms of any transgressions.

No transgressions really on Jamie's part, but the cute bit goes a long way with him.

"Huh. Weird. Do you know that Summers girl from L.A.? The one where everyone thinks is from Sunnydale? And what's a cute- *cough* nice girl like you doing hanging out with demons and vampires?"

"Well, not hanging out so much as trying to stop and sometimes providing best friendy support when certain people I know started dating them, but - " Willow paused. "Summers? As in Buffy?"

"You have friends who have *dated* a vampire?" Jamie asked. "What kind of screwy town did you grow up in?"

"Oh and yeah, Buffy. She lives on our floor you know. But she told me she's from "LA not Sunnydale". That's a direct quote. I'm not sure what the heck that means, but she seemed to think it was very important."

"It was on a Hellmouth," Willow said, absently. "Buffy! Here? LA, not - oh!! Is she young? Younger than me? Because if she is maybe she's from a dimension where she hasn't gone to Sunnydale yet and is still living in LA. Which I guess could be part of the 'From LA, not Sunnydale' comment."

[ooc: must scurry to work. SP is love.]

"Um. I guess she's younger than you," Jamie said thoughtfully. "Not that much younger though. And, I'm sorry... Hellmouth?"

[ooc: *sends SP flowers and chocolate*]

"Place where vampires and demons tend to hang out, even though that's usually where the Slayer lives," Willow explained, again as though this were no big whoop. "So - wow. Young Buffy. Pre-me Buffy. Pre-Angel Buffy!"

"Pre-you? Pre-Angel? Slayer?" Jamie asked only slightly... okay majorly confused. "Okay... I think I need a primer on all things Willow."
