Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

"When the situation warrants, a bow appears. I can't stop them," Peter grinned. "I'm told the trick to a curtsey is all in the right knee. I've not tried it myself."

"I made a bowing situation?" Willow looked pleased. "Giles must've rubbed off on me. Only not literally because much, much older and also a figure of authority which means that any sort of contact there would've been very inappropriate, however tempting."

"It's your second bowing situation tonight. One more, and you win the prize," Peter said with a wink. "And got it. Absolutely no inappropriate rubbing situations from the authority figure. Seems like a plan destined to succeed."

Determined to push thoughts of Giles and rubbing out of her mind, Willow asked, "Is the prize another biscuit?"

Peter offered Willow the box of cookies with a flourish. "For you, my lady. You get a biscuit anyway."

Willow sat up straighter and tried to adopt a formal air. "Why thank you, my good sir."

She immediately dropped it, and grinned. "Did I do it right?"

"Perfectly! You'll be a lady of the Court in no time. Next you must attend a tournament and choose a knight as your champion."

"Do I get to wave delicately with hankerchefs?" Willow asked, miming waving a hankerchef at someone in a crowd. "That always seemed very regal, and yet practical if you had to sneeze."

"A silk handkerchief definitely. The cotton ones rather out of fashion this year," Peter kept a straight face and glanced sideways at Willow.

Totally falling for it, Willow made a face. "I don't know if I'd want to sneeze into silk. How would you clean it?"

"You'd have to have a maid for such work, of course," Peter barely kept a straight face at Willow's expression.

"Oh no!" Willow said, looking geniunely worried. "Now I'm oppressing the masses with my laundry needs!"

Peter started chuckling. "Not the masses unless you go through handkerchiefs at an amazing rate. Just one to look after you."

"Still! A mass! Of the masses!" Willow said. "I don't think I should be so la-di-dah about clothing and garments that I'm allowed to just cull somebody out of the herd just to make sure I always have a fresh hanky. Not that I'd wave a not-so-fresh one because that's not so much dainty as gross. But still. I can be a woman of her own soapsuds." Willow nodded firmly.

"You have a kind and gentle heart, Lady," Peter said with a grin. "And those of us who may be in the tournament certainly appreciate the lack of dirty kerchief waving."

"Do you tournament often?" Willow asked. "Would I have a chance to wave at you cleanly?"

"Whenever I'm in attendance, I compete. Usually a few times a year depending on the weather. If you were attending the tournament, I would have to ask for a favour to wear in my sleeve. Though I'm sure I would be standing in line behind the other knights."

"What kind of favor?" Willow asked. "Oh! Would this be a silk hanky moment? Would I give you that?"

"A silk hanky or a ribbon from your dress," Peter agreed. "So, Lady Willow," Peter bowed, "allow me to fight in your honour?"

Far too delighted by this, Willow sat up in what she hoped was a straight and proper fashion. "Why m'lord Peter - is it m'lord Peter? Would I call you sir?"

Peter nodded, smiling at Willow's enthusiasm, "Sir Peter or my lord Peter, either would be appropriate. Though really, I answer to many things."

"Got it," Willow said. She sat up straight again. "Why Sir Peter, I would be honoured."

Yes, she tried to say "honored" extra formally, which in her head meant there was a u in it.

"Then, Lady Willow, I shall endeavour to serve you loyally and defend your honour to all comers. Any glory I win in combat shall be due to you." Peter rose and bowed more formally than before.

"Oh, I should give you something!" Willow said. "You're all bowing and pledging honor and I'm not giving you anything."

She thought about it, then reached back to tug her ribbon out of her hair, leaving just the elastic band to keep it in a ponytail. "Here. For you, Sir Peter, as a token of my good will."

Peter accepted the ribbon with a grin. "I bear your token proudly."
