A challenge had been issued, and Willow did not shrink from a challenge. Peter had wanted to know what was special about Willow cookies, and the only way to do that was to make them.

Plus Joxer could use another get well present, and there was the party tomorrow.

So after slipping invitations for Buffy, River, Kaylee, and Hermione under their doors, Willow headed to the fifth floor common room with grocery bags full of supplies and got to work.

Chocolate chip cookies didn't bake themselves after all.

She's seen Alec all of... twice, so she's pretty sure she knows the context. She sighs. "Was it at least complimentary?"

"It was," Dean assured her. "You could even call it bragging."

"Yeah, okay, I may have to be killing him now."

"I don't think he's mentioned it to anyone but me," Dean said, although he really didn't know. But considering the other things he was sure Alec hadn't talked to anyone else about, it was possible at least. "And he only told me because of..." he gestured at his face, "...y'know, the resemblance. In case there was a case of mistaken identity."

Which was so totally not true, but sounded like it coul be. And Dean had no idea why he was trying to help Alec out; he was going to have to think about that later.

"What, like in case I was trying to get a leg up on you or something, which sounds dirtier than I meant it to?" she says. "I mean, not that you're not hot, but I'm going to just bang my head against the wall now."

Dean chuckled, not unkindly. "Yeah, there's not really anything to say in this situation that won't end up sounding dirty somehow. Why don't we just start over." He held out his hand to her again with a grin and a wink. "Hi, I'm Dean Winchester. I'm new and have never heard of you before."

"Oh, I like that so much better," she says. "Jaye Tyler, you don't look familiar at all."

"Pleased to meet you, Jaye," Dean said, still grinning. "So are you another one of us newbies?"

"Nope," she says. "Been here since September. I'm one of the wise, learned veterans now."

"So you've dealt with the zombies, snowmonsters and wee dancing bunnies and all?"

"I totally missed the zombies," she says. "But I was there for the snow monsters, and I got to laugh at everyone else about the bunnies. Oh, and when we mysteriously got superpowers, I got to dance on the ceiling with Rory's vampire puppy."

"That sounds... surreal."

"It was. Kinda fun, too, though," she says. "I was just starting to get the hang of it when I wasn't super anymore. Is that like, a completely weird thing to say?"

"Anywhere else but here, probably." He smiled. "I like weird though."

"Trust me, you'll get plenty of that here."

"Trust me, I've had plenty of weird even before I came here. I'm used to it. It's just here..." He shook his head with a little smile and gave a shrug, "Here everyone's used to it."

"Yes and no," she says. "Some of us still have great big WTF moments, but then you have to get over it or get trampled by snow monsters."

"Not getting trampled would be a serious motivator for getting over it," Dean agreed. "It's just... nice not to have people run away or think I'm crazy when I tell them my family hunts demons and ghosts."

Jaye smiles a little. "Yeah, you're gonna do just fine here," she says.

"So what about you?" Dean asked. "Where and when are you from?"

"Niagara Falls, this time," she says. "I'm really not one of the interesting ones."

"Oh, I don't know." Dean smiled. "We've just met, but you seem pretty interesting to me."

Jaye smiles back. "It may just be the newbie factor," she says. "I get boring real quick, really. Just ignore anything Peter Parker tells you."

"That will be easy since I haven't met him yet." He paused. "So do you really talk to your purse?"

"Nope," says Jaye. It's the truth. She talks to the little wax lion that she carries in her purse. But only when it starts the conversation. "Though I do have a toaster that talks to people. It's very friendly."
