Sam stretched out on the grass, reading. Occasionally she sipped from a bottle of water. She was immensely botherable.

"So, anyway...my cabinmates are insane, I think." She grinned, "but in a good way."

"We're all pretty much insane in a good way here," Elizabeth nodded, grinning. "My cabinmates are all pretty decent."

"You're in with Janet and Parker, right?" Sam asked. "Who else is in there with you?"

Elizabeth nodded. "A new girl, Tempe on our side and then it's Cally, Bridge, Anders and another new girl, Z on the other."

"Oh, I met Tempe in Astronomy the other day. She seemed nice, if a bit reserved. I haven't met Z, though."

"That was my pretty much my opinion to," Elizabeth said. "Z seems nice too; she's from the same time and place as Bridge."

"Oh, that's great for Bridge! Must be nice having someone else he knows around."

Elizabeth nodded. "I know. In that sense we were all pretty lucky that we all ended up here together; a self-made support group."

"Mmm hmmm." She said, almost automatically, but not ready to formulate the thought in her brain, since it seemed almost treasonous.

Elizabeth just glanced at her, and changed the subject. "So, what are the books you can lend me?"

"One's about a prosecutor of child abusers, who finds out her young son has been molested, and the other's a murder mystery about who killed Humpty Dumpty," Sam said, as if it was perfectly normal to read both of these books at the same time.

"Ooh, they both sound good," Elizabeth nodded, seeing nothing wrong with that combination.

"They are. Just, um, a little different." She grinned sheepishly.

"Different is good. I go from reading children's books to terrorist investigations," Elizabeth said, laughing slightly.

"I know that's supposed to mean something about our intelligence, I just don't know what."

"We can quickly adapt to things and multitask in our head?" Elizabeth suggested.

"Or get bored easily and are constantly searching for new entertainment?" Sam laughed.

"I like my explanation better!" Elizabeth said, joining in with the laughter. "But yes, that could be it."

"Oh, the curse of being a smart woman who can multitask," Sam sighed dramatically.

"I find reading strange books helps."

"Always a good plan. Although I'm sure not all the books you read are strange. That wormhole one definitely qualifies though..." Elizabeth just grinned.

"Oh shush. Because reading Tolstoy in the original Russian is normal," she teased.

"It's perfectly normal," Elizabeth said haughtily, although the whole effect was spoiled by her grin.
