Meerkat Campfire, evening

The cabin is back, or visible at least since it never really went anywhere. She survived cheerleading practice without injury and the rain seems to have stopped. All in all, not a bad day. Now it's time to sit back, relax and enjoy the last campfire and the last s'more for a while.

"I actually prefer them all brown exactly like that," he said happily, taking the marshmallow and managing not to wince from the heat at all. "Thanks. Toasting them isn't really my forte. I tend to set them on fire."

"But waiting is boring," he whined good-naturedly, leaning over to kiss her cheek.

"Agreed," he said a little breathlessly. "But then, we never know what's worth the wait."

He touched her cheek before pulling back. "But I'm a good enough scientist that my hypotheses on points like that aren't usually wrong."

Greg smiled, blushing dark red. "That's an idea," he replied. "Anyway. How did cheer practice go?"

"We tossed a ball around and I only tripped once," he said brightly. "It's very exciting."

"I'm sure that John would appreciate your efforts," Greg deadpanned.

"Oh, Isabel, how thou hast wounded me," he said dramatically, clasping a hand to his heart. "You know that denial of marshmallow is my biggest weakness. I may cry."

"I win!" Greg declared. "Though I have no idea what I win, other than a marshmallow."

Greg looked sad. "Who's gloating? I was just stating the truth."

"Well, you said it, I didn't," he pointed out. "But since we're on the subject of telling the truth, I also think you're looking especially pretty today and that Marilyn Manson is misunderstood rather than scary."

He happily took the marshmallow from Isabel, grinning, and draped an arm around her. "Remind me and the next time we have a campfire, I'll bring out the coloring powders."
