Gym, morning before workshops

Cameron was in the gym early, warming up already. He seemed pretty focussed on the weight lifting he was doing as his mind went through last night's conversation with Aeryn and the weird email Rory had sent out the evening before.

"Good," he said empathically, but he smiled at her remark. "Then we better get cracking on how to have you not get hit."

"Sounds like a plan," Veronica agreed. She got in the position he had demonstrated earlier. "I'm ready."

"Alright," he said as he got into position himself and went for a very straight forward punch to her side. He made sure not to move too fast or put too much force behind it to give her time to just get the hang of it first.

Veronica shifted her weight to the opposite side and dropped her elbow to block the punch.

"Good," Cameron said with a smile and launched a roundhouse to her jaw.

"So how's things beside the investigating stuff and the raining pudding?"

Veronica wasn't quite ready for the second attack, but managed to get an arm up to cover her face. Cameron's punch hit her arm though and she stumbled back a step as she absorbed the impact.

"Pretty good, actually," Veronica said. "How about you? Getting things straightened out?"

"Trying to. It's going to take work, but I can handle it," he waited a bit longer this time before punching at her shoulder. "I think I got through the suckiest part of the week."

"Don't give up," Veronica advised, managing to duck and completely avoid the blow to the shoulder. Sometimes being short had its advantages.

Cameron looked pleased with that as his own ducking skills tended to fail on him.

"I don't intent to, but being told she's only doing this to avoid the drama isn't exactly inspiring. I guess it's better than nothing." He went for a lower punch to her left side.

Veronica dropped her elbow to try to block the punch, but wasn't quite fast enough and took the hit.

"Ouch," she said, more in reference to Cameron's words than the physical contact. "Maybe she's just trying to protect herself and avoid getting hurt again?" she suggested, rubbing her side.

"Maybe. I honestly don't know what to make of it, but time will tell," he straightened up and looked at her. "You alright?"

"It didn't break overnight, so you can't expect to fix it overnight," Veronica pointed out. "And, yeah, I'm fine."

"I can be persistent if I have to be," he said with a small smile. He waited for her to get ready again before going back to the blocking excercises.

Veronica took a few deep, slow breaths and then got back in position and nodded to Cameron.

Cameron went for another jab towards the head.

"Of course, after this there officially won't be a girl in the school anymore who can't kick my ass."

"You think I couldn't have kicked your ass before?" Veronica asked, blocking the jab.

"I just realized that defending myself without my taser was a skill I should learn," she explained with a smirk.

"I don't doubt it," Cameron said lightly as he followed up the jab with a punch towards her chest, not putting much force behind it. "Using a taser in a spar however is cheating."

Veronica grinned. "I wouldn't use one in a spar," she replied, barely dodging the chest shot. "But it was pointed out to me that a weapon is only effective if it's not taken from me."

"Good to know," he grinned back. "It's probably good to be able to fight both ways. I'm pretty lousy with swords, but it's still saved my life more than once around here."

He gave her a moment before trying something new and following up a punch to the right shoulder with one to her left side.

"I don't think I'm up to real weapons yet," Veronica confessed, easily blocking the punch to her shoulder, but not expecting the follow up and taking another hit to her left side.

"How about broomstick fights?" Cameron asked and backed off again. "Just let me know if you've had enough of it."

"Broomsticks?" Veronica repeated. "And I'm okay, just apparently really bad at blocking my left side."

"I really suck at blocking kicks," he said in some sort of attempt to reassure her. "Yeah, broomstick fights. I got in quite a few with my sister when I was a kid."

He went for another punch to her left side, taking it a bit slower this time.

Veronica finally managed to block a punch to her left side, which was good, otherwise she might have bruised.

"Hm, downfall to being an only child, I guess."

"You do realise we're going to have to have broomstick fights now?" Cameron grinned and went for her left shoulder now.
