4th Floor Common Room: Thursday Evening

Blair checked that the common room was empty before sneaking in and setting close to the television. His package arrived in the mail today and he had been waiting until now to pop it into the DVD player.

Doing one final check around the room he reached up and hit play, bouncing excitedly as the theme song music for "Runner, Texas Ranger" started.

Cause the eyes of a ranger are upon you, any wrong you do he's going to see. When you're in Texas, look behind you...cause that's where the rangers gonna be.

Blair is totally not singing and bouncing along to the theme song. At all.

"Hi Bridge!" Blair waved. "Singing kicking ranger show! It totally rocks."

"It's not Dekaranger, is it?" Bridge asks warily. "Because I'm telling you, dude, that show is totally inaccurate."

"Nope, it's about Runner, Texas Ranger. He sings and he has a beard and he's totally awesome." Blair bounced.

"Um...not that I know that much about this show or anything."

"Huh," Bridge says. "I've never heard of it, but then... I've never heard of most of the stuff people watch here, so," he shrugs good-naturedly grins.

"It is a pretty good show though, if you want to start watching it. I have the whole first season on dvd!" Blair bounced before he realized his mistake. "It was...uh...an impulse buy. Online. There was actually a waiting list."

"Maybe I'll give it a try, man." Bridge says, bouncing also.

"Cool!" Blair smiled and bounced. "How's things going for you this summer? How's things with Xander? You're still dating him, right?"

"Summer is good. I haven't had summer vacation in years, so even though there's workshops, this is like... totally weird, having all this free time. Things with Xander are- good. Really good." Bridge beams.

"What did you do without summer vacation? Don't you wish we could have taken more workshops? I'm glad things with you two are good. Is it weird with him being graduated?"

"Training, mostly. With my squad and other cadets and stuff. I totally wish we could have more workshops, dude. And- I don't know if I'd say weird so much as different. I mean, instead of being in a class with him he's *teaching* the class, but it's a really great class even if I'm totally biased."

"Is training hard? Like a boot camp thing where you stand in the mud and scream out rhyming cadence things? It would be nice to at least be able to have one each day or something. Wednesday is my day off and I just want to sneak into other people's workshops on that day. It must be weird to have him teaching you, although it's probably good that we don't get grades. At least you don't have to worry about your boyfriend grading you. It is a great class though!"

"It's pretty hard, and yeah, we have mud run obstacle courses which are no fun at all. I totally snuck into Callisto's workshop today. She made everyone take off their clothes because the purpose was to learn how to make clothes out of things from nature, and the fact that we weren't *wearing* any was supposed to work as incentive. I think it worked pretty well- everyone finished pretty quickly. Yeah, the grading thing might be weird. It's great and totally a useful class too! Especially for me and Z, 'cause we're both on the same squad so we need to know all this stuff about providing backup and stuff."

"That's sucks for it being hard, but I guess that's sorta good since you need to have the training. Mud is fun when you get to play in it, maybe they should let you goof around after you've finished. Whoa, remind me never to sneak into Callisto's class. I'm all for freedom of expression but that's a little too free for me. I wonder if he has to give us grades at the end of the summer. Maybe you get an impartial grader or something. What's your favorite activity so far? I really liked the gibberish one although I don't think I ever got it right."

"Yeah, they've gotta make sure that we have the right sort of training to be able to defend the planet and stuff, so it's all understandable. And I don't *really* mind it because it's what I want to do with my life, so you know. I don't think the no-clothes is a regular thing- I think she usually just makes everyone take off their shoes. Which is actually kind of cool 'cause I'd go barefoot all the time if I could but I can't since it's against regulations. I don't think they need to give us grades- they would have mentioned that whenever we signed up for camp? I think it's all just participation- as long as we come to the workshops and take part in what we're supposed to, we don't get in trouble. The gibberish one was totally cool, I agree. And even if you didn't- maybe you invented a new code! Which would be even better 'cause then only you and the people you taught it to would know it."

"I think that's cool, the people who are enforcing the laws should really be well trained and even though I don't usually agree with The Man, I trust you and your friends. You seem pretty cool. No shoes is cool, although not in the woods because things would be pricking your feet all the time or you might step in a bear trap which it wouldn't matter if you had sneakers on or not. Why can't you go barefoot? Is that like the gloves thing or something, you have special energy reading toes? Really? No grades, that's kind of a downer. It was pretty fun doing the code until Jamie figured out that I was talking about his mom. He really didn't like that."

"That means a lot, dude, that you trust me even though you're not a fan of The Man. And- I've gone barefoot in the woods a lot, it's not so bad once you get used to it, really. And no, it's really just an SPD rule- I can't sense auras through my feet or anything. No grades also takes some of the pressure off, though, I think. Which can be good. Yeah, I saw that, he did get pretty mad!"

"I think that's probably one of the biggest lesson that I've learned at Fandom - to not assume that people who work for The Man are bad. I think I should try that sometime, and just keep an eye out for bear traps. That's sorta sad though, I saw this tv special where this lady could paint with her toes. That's a very cool talent. I was just joking around with him honestly, I never would have imagined he'd get that up in arms about the whole thing."

"It's a pretty valubale lesson, I think. And you totally should! Summer is actually the best time for going barefoot, because in the winter there can be like, snow and cold and stuff, which isn't so good. Though I grew up in California so not so much with the snow. I've never tried painting with my toes, I probably wouldn't have the, uh, foot-eye co-ordination for it. People tend to take those kinds of jokes pretty seriously, sometimes. Did you work everything out okay, though?"

"Yeah, I didn't really think about it before I said anything." Blair shook his head. "It's not something I would have said if I thought he could understand me, so I really shouldn't made the joke. I did apologize though, so I'm hoping it's all okay."

"Jamie seems like a pretty easy-going guy," Bridge shrugs. "I'm sure it'll be fine."
