4th Floor Common Room: Thursday Evening

Blair checked that the common room was empty before sneaking in and setting close to the television. His package arrived in the mail today and he had been waiting until now to pop it into the DVD player.

Doing one final check around the room he reached up and hit play, bouncing excitedly as the theme song music for "Runner, Texas Ranger" started.

Cause the eyes of a ranger are upon you, any wrong you do he's going to see. When you're in Texas, look behind you...cause that's where the rangers gonna be.

Blair is totally not singing and bouncing along to the theme song. At all.

"Yeah. Kinda tools of the trade," Dean said enthusiastically. "I've been working on converting an old walkman I have into one -- it'll blend it a lot better than normal meters, for when you need to take readings in crowded areas."

"That's *awesome*!" Bridge totally bounces. "Building stuff- and especially modifying stuff so that it can do things they weren't meant to do originally- is kind of a hobby of mine. Like, um, Rory's laptop can make waffles now too. In addition to being, well, a laptop."

Dean blinked. "What made you think of putting a waffle maker into a laptop?"

"I dunno, it seemed like a good idea at the time?" Bridge shrugs.

"You've got a very strange brain," Dean said, laughing and shaking his head.

"Thanks. I think." Bridge says with a smirk.

"It was a compliment," Dean confirmed. "So what would you add to an EMF meter?"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm," Bridge says. "A lot of the time, I add, like, candy. But an EMF meter- holy water might be pretty useful in conjunction with that, I'd think. Or maybe both..." Bridge trails off, deep in thought.

"A lighter or flamethrower would probably be useful too," Dean put in, just in case this conversation ended up in an actual product.

"Ooh, that's-" Bridge reaches into a pocket of his uniform jacket and pulls out a small notebook. Jotting that down, he grins. "Each of the buttons on the Walkman could be assigned to a different function," he says thoughtfully. "Unless you need those for the EMF meter. But I could probably figure out a way to add buttons that wouldn't look conspicuous."

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't really need many buttons for the EMF," Dean said. "Just a dial to fine tune it."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, cool," Bridge says. "And I'm... totally taking over your project, I'm sorry," he says, embarassed.

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"No, that's okay." Dean grinned. "I'm finding this all really fascinating."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Bridge bounces. "That's great! Um, want me to draw up some schematics and then we can go over them sometime and you can tell me if you think they'd be practical enough for your EMF meter?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Absolutely," Dean said enthusiastically, grin if anything getting wider.
