After a handwavy trip into town for ingredients, Sam took the carefully printed recipe out of her pocket and laid it on the counter. She'd memorized it by now, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get some practice in before the workshop.

The fact that the recipe didn't involve an open flame? Well, that was just being prudent.

"So, double boiler...." She began hunting for the appropriate hardware.

"Neither was flicking it at me," she crossed her eyes at him, "My eyelashes could have been glued together and I could have been blind for the rest of my life."

Anakin blinked. "I've heard of that happening...exactly never," he said. "But I think our eggs are all peaky. Now what?"

"Add the sugar and keep beating until they're stiff," Sam said, checking the recipe and then handing Anakin the already measured bowl of sugar.

"And it could happen," she pouted, taking the chocolate and butter mixture off the heat.

"Got it," Anakin said, beating the mixture some more. "If I end up with two different sized arms because of all of this mixing, I'm blaming you," he said.

Sam snickered. "Okay, that's fair. Even if you're the one who didn't want to give up his whisk."

"I liked the whisk. I just didn't know there was quite so much...whisking involved in mousse," Anakin said, still beating the eggs.

"It's kind of the point," Sam said, "the real stuff is very light and fluffy, but that means there has to be a lot of air in it. Ergo, whisking."

Anakin pressed his lips together. "I just push a button back home," he complained.

"Then this'll be a learning experience," she smirked, "and build character."

"I have quite enough character already," Anakin whined. "Okay. My arm is killing me. That's got to be fluffy enough."

Sam looked into the bowl. "Okay, sure, why not?"

"Now, we need to fold the egg whites into the chocolate," Sam said. "You pour, I'll fold?"

"Fold?" Anakin frowned. "Like in half?"

"Maybe? I think it's a cooking term meaning stir."

"They should just say stir, then," Anakin said, tipping about half of the chocolate into the bowl of eye whites.

"I think..." Sam shook her head and began to stir. "I think we flunk fluffy."

Anakin frowned into the bowl. "I've never been a fan of fluffy anyway," he said, nodding. "I prefer pudding. Just not in, you know, dragon-sized portions."

"You've obviously never had mousse," Sam told him, "although, yeah, pudding dragons aren't my favorite thing either. I don't think."

"I think if I never see another dessert-related monster in my life again, I'll be okay," Anakin said, staring at the bowl and tipping the rest of the chocolate into it.

Sam stirred obligingly. "Yeah, I can second that emotion." She started humming.

"That doesn't look too bad," Anakin said, sounding a little surprised. He glanced at Sam. "What are you humming?"

"Song," she said, flushing slightly. "An old one."

"Anything I'd know?" Anakin asked, sticking his finger into the bowl and popping some of the mousse into his mouth. "Mmm."

"Not sure," she shrugged. "Hang on, and don't eat all the mousse."

She went back to her room and downloaded a song (http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/introjs.htm?/~acsa/songfile/I1SECOND.HTM) onto her mp3 player. She came back and handed it to Anakin.

Anakin hadn't eaten all the mousse, but he'd put a bit of a dent in it.

He pushed the button to listen to the music and smiled. "I don't know it," he said, "but I like it."

Sam rolled her eyes when she saw the mousse. "Smokey Robinson. Good stuff, huh? Have you been introduced to any musicians from before the nineteen eighties?"
