Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon

After a handwavy trip into town for ingredients, Sam took the carefully printed recipe out of her pocket and laid it on the counter. She'd memorized it by now, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get some practice in before the workshop.

The fact that the recipe didn't involve an open flame? Well, that was just being prudent.

"So, double boiler...." She began hunting for the appropriate hardware.

Anders, freshly showered after a long jog through the preserve, poked his head into the common room.

"Hey, Carter. What are you up to?"

"Practicing for Monday," Sam told him. "Plus, I couldn't face jello after yesterday. How're you doing?"

"Monday?" Anders asked, his eyes widening. "Oh frak, baking! I totally forgot."

He smacked himself in the forehead once and went to go dig up something to drink from the fridge. "I'm doing okay, I guess. Surprisingly."

Jude wandered in, his Canadian-flag cape firmly in place. "Hey, whatcha up to?"

"Trying to make mousse," Sam replied, double-checking the ingredients list. "What with the flag?"

"Oooh, mousse." Cue Jude trying to read the recipe over her shoulder. "It's Canada Day today," he informed her.

Anders nodded at the guy he didn't recognize. "Hey."

Anakin walked into the common room and smiled at everyone before finding a seat.

"You're cooking?" he asked, looking excited. "More cake?"

Sam snorted. "God, you're a masochist, Skywalker. But no, this is chocolate mousse. In theory."

"I like chocolate," Anakin said, craning his neck to peer into the bowl. "Are you going to share?"

"Hey, Skywalker," Anders said, waving. "We have a sad lack of cake today."

"It is a very sad, sad state," Anakin agreed, nodding. "Hey, Anders."

Tempe wandered in, hair and skin still tinged a Berry Blue.

"Hey Sam!"

"Tempe, hi!" Sam waved a spoon. "I see you had a run-in with the same color dragon I had. You okay?"

"I'm okay. Just a blue semi-permanent dye-job, and I think I'm going to smell like Berry Blue for a few months to come," Tempe replied.

"Actually, I think I might've done more damage to the dragon than it did to me. Emotionally, anyway. I may have implied that it was an unloved flavour and would never make any friends."

"What are you making?"

Anders waved. "You know, you were in my cabin, I swear, and I still don't remember your name. Which sucks of me, but hi."

Tempe looked thoughtful for a moment. "You're probably right. Don't feel bad though, because I don't think we actually ever met. Unless of course we did, and I can't remember your name either."

"Hi. I'm Tempe," Tempe replied.

"Hey, people," smiled Elizabeth as she entered the room. She did a double take at Sam in the kitchen. "Should I have a fire extinguisher ready?"

"Possibly?" Sam stuck her tongue out at Elizabeth. "Just for that, you don't get chocolate mousse."

It occurred to her belatedly that it might not be much of a threat.

"Oh, no. How ever will I survive?" asked Elizabeth, collapsing overdramatically onto the sofa, laughing.
