Second floor common room [Evening]

Anakin had spent most of the day brooding meditating and replaying the trip to Coruscant in his mind.

The thoughts it had led to had been entirely too depressing.

That's why he had migrated up to the second floor common room and commandeered the television set.

Not that the last Space Battles prequel was any less depressing, but he could keep himself entertained by mocking the terrible technology and equally terrible dialogue.

Parker studied her, then said, "Closure? I don't know. Explanations? Maybe?"

"What explanation? You were a nice little bedwarmer, but now I've got the houseboy you can take a hike?"

"For time five thousand: Logan is straight. There is nothing else going on there." Parker sighed. "And you were more than a bedwarmer. And I obviously really have to hit him for being a jackass, don't I?"

"That's right, I was a potential broodmare too."

Parker put her hands over her face and groaned. And didn't say what she was thinking, which was: he didn't love you, but he did care about you... 'Cause yeah, *that* would make it better.

"You know you're being insane, and since you're having fun with it, I won't tell you you're wrong any more." Parker let her hands drop. "So I guess you go back to Thrace in a week then, hunh."

"Home, sweet home," Callisto deadpanned.

"You could go somewhere else, if you wanted," Parker pointed out. "I thought you were looking forward to campaigning again?"

"Where else could I go?" Callisto asked. "People like me don't get futures."

"If you want one, you can get one." Parker gave her an impatient look. "Fake papers? Check. Start up money? Check. If I can do it for the doofus, I can do it for you. Pick somewhere, if being a warlord isn't what you want." She forced her voice to lightness. "Or just keep being dark and fatalistic, 'cause I know that works for you."

"Unlike some, I didn't get a bright shiny destiny to show me the way," Callisto said. "I just get to kill until I die."

"Or rule. Or quit. Or go sea-diving." Parker really wishes she could quit arguing with Callisto. It never works. And yet... "Look. When you're home. If you ever need help? Get that Widow to contact me through the school. If you want out, I'll find you an out."

"Parker, death is my out. Mine or someoen else's. That's how my world works."

"Then you leave the world," Parker insisted. "Or change it."

"I've seen my future Parker," Callisto said. "And changing the world doesn't help one godsdamnned bit."

"When did you see this future?" Parker demanded. "And how do you know it's the only one? *You* don't have a destiny, as you keep reminding me."

"Because I felt myself die."

Parker doesn't have an immediate response to that. "So don't go. Stay here. Seriously."

"Parker, I have nothing here to stay for, granted an early death and a doomed quest for vengeance isn't much, but it is something."

"It's stupid. It's not just self-destructive, it's stupid," Parker argued. "And you can find something else. Something without hair that sticks up, or a Y-chromosome." She's quiet a second, then sayd, "Please?</small"

"I'm sorry Parker, but it's too late. It's always been too late for me."

And if she's right, it's too big for Parker to handle, and if she's not, then it'll be okay. So Parker opts for denial.

"Right. So. You're going to write, right? Because we want details before your fiery end."

Callisto didn't answer.

Parker gritted her teeth. "I will come *find* you, with Bel teleporting me, if you don't. I'll tell Widow Twanky ... something, I don't know what. I'll, I'll show pictures of you in the red dress to your army...."

Parker glared at her, then smirked. "I'll drag Angel along too. Want me to do that?" Then she thought about it. "No, seriously. Want me to do that?"
