5th Floor Common Room, Late Monday Morning

JD was sitting on the floor in the 5th floor common room, wearing a pair of lime green pajama bottoms with little blue puppies on them and a white wife beater tank top. Crossed legged in front of the TV, he is watching cartoons and tossing a small bouncy ball repeatedly against the wall.

"New person, hi!" Cally said, with a very welcoming smile.

Agnes cautiously smiled back. She was still getting used to all these people who didn't look at the hat and immediately find something else to do, like wash the cat or something.

"Hello. I'm Agnes."

"Agnes, huh? Nice name," she said. "I'm Cally. Technically, my name's Veruca Cally, but I just kinda go by my last name."

Veruca? Her parents must not have liked her, thought Perdita.

Agnes shushed her and smiled at the compliment. "Thank you, Cally. You're not new here, then?"

"Kinda one of the oldies, actually," Cally said. "Been here almost a year now. You getting settled okay?"

"I don't know," Agnes admitted. "There's a boy in my room."

A boy who now seemed fairly thoroughly cowed at least.

Cally scratched the back of her neck for a second. "This is a bad thing?" she asked, curious as to what Agnes would answer.

"Yes, it's a bad thing!" She was the maiden in the witches three.

Agnes blushed a little at her vehemence but didn't apologize. "Boys and girls should have separate rooms."

"Ahhh, yeah," Cally said, making a mental note to not mention her previous living arrangements... ever.

"Who'd you get saddled with, anyways?"

"Joxer? Do you know him?"

Cally winced. "Oh geeze. That doofus," Cally said. "Yeah, I met him once. He totally tried to hit on me, and then said he wasn't."

"He tried to hit you?" Agnes' voice changed tone and timbre and sounded quite different from her previous speaking voice. It was the sort of voice that said "I can't be having with that," and meant it.

"Hit on me," Cally said. "You know, kinda blatant flirting? Not, like, hit me in the fact hitting."

"Oh. That's good." Her voice returned to normal. "I thought I was going to have to work on really turning people into frogs."

"You can do that?" Cally said, suddenly smirking. "Heeeey, are you a witch?"

Agnes nodded, making her hat bob along with her head. She leaned forward confidingly and said, "Yes, and I have Joxer good and scared of me."

"Niiiiice," Cally said, grinning. "Just don't be too rough on him. He's a doofus, but I actually think he means well, most of the time."

"If I'm going to sleep with him in the same room, I want him to be sure that he'll be croaking in a pond if he tries anything." Not that she'd managed to sleep in the same room with him yet.

"Well, if you ever need a place to run to, 508's always got a door open," Cally said. "No boys in there. Just me."

"508. Thank you, but I don't think I deserve to call myself a witch if I run away from Joxer." She'd learned a lot since the Magpyrs had come to Lancre.

"Well, I meant if you know, you wanted someplace where you didn't have to worry about a guy walking in or something. I dunno." Cally smiled again. Agnes really seemed to know her stuff, actually. "So, where ya from, anyways?"

That was a common conversation point. She was starting to wonder if there was a list of things she could tell people right away. "Lancre, but no one here knows where that is. Blair and Jack told me that I'm from a different planet. Do you know them?"

"Different planets? Yeah," Cally said. "I'm from one, too."
