The 3rd floor Common Room Thursday Evening 9/14

Lavender is cooking up a storm. It had all started when she decided it was her turn to cook after all the free food she’d eaten in the common rooms since she arrived in Fandom. But it looks like she got a little carried away.

On the table is a tray piled with Cornish pasties, a large bowl of mashed potatoes, a plate of fried tomatoes, another bowl filled with peas and carrots, a roast chicken and a pitcher of gravy. She was just leaning down to take out a vegetable casserole and then she was going to put in the Spotted Dick She hoped she'd made enough.

She’d also set out a large pitcher of pumpkin juice.

Damnit I left the fudge in my room! she thought to herself, wiping her hands on her apron.

Peter shook his head. "No, but thank you. How have your classes gone this week?"

"Oh they're all right. The pop culture class is helpful I juat wish I had more of a workload. I get bored."

"There are clubs starting up next week and such. You could write for the newspaper perhaps?" Peter suggested with a smile.

"Hmm I never would have thought of that. I shall have to check it out. Clubs weren'y big at Hogwarts. I mean we had them but they weren't very active."

"It's something to keep you from getting bored anyway," Peter said. He grinned mischieviously. "Unless you cook when you're bored. In which case...stay bored please?"

Lavender giggled. "I think I can probably make the pasties and such a fairly regular thing. What clubs are there, besides the paper?"

"I'm not altogether sure actually," Peter said with a laugh. "There'll be a Fencing Club, I know because I'm helping run it. And I think I heard something about a 'Damn the Man' club run by Blair? We didn't have clubs or anything during the summer beyond the newspaper."

Peter grinned. "Have you met Blair yet?"

"Yes, we're in Prophecy together he seems very nice."

"He's not generally fond of the..." Peter looked for a good word. "The power structure of anything. He calls them 'the man' so he's starting a club to fight against it. I suppose?"

"Ah ok. Quesitoning authority is good."

Peter grinned. "If you say so. I can't always agree."

"Hmm people in authority tend to lie in my experience."

"I suppose it would depend on the person then," Peter remarked.

"This is very true. Harry Potter, for instance? Not a liar. If he doesn't tell you something it's for avery good reason. The Minister for Magic on the other had..... lies, lies and more lies."

Peter smiled. "The more I hear of your Harry, the more I like him. And...I don't know the situation, but sometimes one gets caught up in doing the easy thing and forgets the right one."

"He forced the paper to print that Harry's warnings were the rambling a crazy egotist. The put him on trial for defendin himself." Lavender's voice got very small. "And at first, I belived them."

"Sometimes it's difficult not to," Peter agreed. "And when you were shown it was wrong, you changed your mind. That says lots for you."

"Well acutally Hermione told me to shut my big fat mouth...." Lavender laughed.

"Why do I think she used those exact words?" Peter asked with a grin.

"Cause you've met her?" Lavender grinned back. "Have you ever seen a wild animal try to protect it's young? Then you have a godo idea of what Hermione looks like when anyone tries to talk to or about Harry and Ron."

Peter ducked his head. "I have no idea what that could possibly be like."

Lavender bit her lip. "I lived with Hermione for five years and I really.... I spose it still is different here."

"It probably is. Not to mention that you're now a year ahead of the Hermione here. So if...anything happened in the past year that would affect her, it's probably not something she ought to know about." Peter was concerned more than harsh though he worried about the situation.
