Outside Hunting Class, 7th period

Lurking outside hunting class is a rawhead, a monster covered in dark matted hair and holding a sign that says 'I can be your friend!'. The costume is convincing, but if you watch the rawhead long enough you might be able to see it bounce.

Blair grinned under the mask and gave another small bounce. The costume had come in yesterday and luckily it was big enough that he could wear it over his cast. He practiced his growls and grunting while he waited for the students to show up. "Grrrr. GRRRR! Grrr."

"Unless it creates more conflict," Sam replied, giving John a bitter look as he tried to wiggle away from Blair.

"Pop quiz time," John said. "If that was a real rawhead, what would you use to kill it, Sammy?"

Blair stepped back from Sam and looked at John. "It always comes back to the killing with you, man."

Sam gave his dad a look as though he couldn't believe he was asking that now, and grumbled. "You'd use a strong taser and electrocute it," he replied, before turning to Blair. "Don't worry, he doesn't mean to actually hurt you."

"Not unless you've taken up a diet of children's marrow," John agreed.

Blair watched the two of them worriedly. "You people are weird, you know that, right? You electrocute people?"

"No, we electrocute rawheads who, between technically being boogeymen and being monsters who eat children, can't really be considered people." So much for trying not to argue with Blair this week.

"That's exactly right," John said, smiling a little to hear Sam articulate that.

"Oh Em Gee." Blair facepalmed. "You guys are like broken records. Dual broken records. You're talking about killing something that can stand and talk and make higher brain decisions! How can you talk about murdering it so glibly?"

"Actually Rawheads don't talk as such," John put in. "Their vocabulary mostly consists of variations of 'Rarrragh!'"

"Just because you can't translate it, doesn't mean they aren't talking." Blair shook his head. "Maybe you need to take a translator with you the next time."

"I'm pretty sure all we need is the taser," Sam replied.
