The gym, after CV2

Nadia didn't feel up to going and finding her friends and their parents just yet. She was still feeling weird after her argument with Pippi the night before, and the fact that she knew she wouldn't have anyone there for her just made her less than enthusiastic about the whole Parents' Weekend thing.

So she headed to the gym and grabbed a quarter-staff, and was currently moving very slowly through several defensive moves, taking care to remain as calm and focused on exactly how she was moving as she could.

"No. If you're so angry with yourself for doing something that you don't think is fair to Mac, maybe you should let her know, and see if you can work things out there."

"But if I just ignore it, maybe it'll just go away, and then I don't have to risk hurting her at all," Cally said.

"Has that worked so far?"

"As long as no one's telling me you're unhappy or I'm seeing you all stand-offy and stuff," Cally said. "And then I get all overly concerned."

"Cally, you were purposefully trying to upset me. Which would make me unhappy, and a whole lot more likely to be 'stand-offy'."

"Did I mention I'm stupid lately? I'm stupid," Cally said.

"You keep saying that, and it's not true! And it's also really not an answer to my question."

"Yeah, well, it's not like you ever really answer my questions," Cally said. She walked over to the large punching bag and gave it a big right fist.

"Yeah, gee, I don't want to tell you about Hell. I'm a terrible friend."

"No, even just now," Cally said. "You managed to tell me exactly nothing about spy stuff. You gave non-answers to every one of my questions. I'm not stupid you--" She stopped when she realized what she was saying, and hit the punching bag again.

"Cally, what do you know about spies? What's the cliche line that you always get when it comes to spy stuff?"

"I have no." She hit the punching bag. "Frakking." Another punch. "Clue." A final punch. "Different planet, remember?"

"'I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you'. There's a reason why that's a cliche. I can't tell you about a lot of the 'spy stuff'. It's illegal and it could get you into a hell of a lot of trouble."

"You really think your spy superiors are gonna believe you leaked information to a girl from the planet Caprica, while attending a school that's been attacked by zombies?"

Nadia just gave her a look. Finally, she answered. "I don't know. But I'm not going to take that chance and get you into that kind of trouble."

Cally turned around and let out a deep breath. "You wanna spar? Right now? You and me, just frak it all, now."

". . . I'm not sure that's a good idea," She was still too upset from what happened with Pippi the night before, and Cally's mood wasn't helping. She didn't want to accidentally hurt the other girl.

"That's not an answer to the question. I asked if you want to spar, not if it's a good idea."

Nadia looked Cally in the eye. "I don't want to hurt you."

"And I'm not some little kid," Cally said. "I'm not defenseless or a pushover."

"I'm not kidding, Cally. I'm not a good person to spar with. Not when I'm--"

"Not when you're what?" Cally asked.

Nadia shut her eyes in frustration. "When I'm upset, Cally, okay? Your little goal from the other day worked. And I don't want to hurt you."

"You keep repeating that like you have to convince yourself," Cally said. "You kinda do, don't you?"

"Would it make you happy if I said yes?"
