Dorm Lobby - Just before sunset

Marie was waiting in the lobby for Willow and Peter to meet her so they could go trick-or-treating through town. She was mildly disappointed that Jamie had to work and couldn't join them, but she'd gladly recruit anyone who happened to be wandering through to join them.

[ETA: I'm heading home from work. Feel free to advance your characters to the town trick-or-treat post at your own speed :) If you want to handwave that your character ran into Marie and she convinced them to go, that's fine with me!]

"The one in our room isn't," Door points out. She frowns slightly. "Perhaps he just doesn't think I'm gropeworthy?"

"Maybe he's doing it in reverse alphabetical order," Willow replied.

Door raises an eyebrow. "I suppose I have a while before I'd need to worry about it, then."

"Well that's good," Willow said. "Gives us time to plan the escape route."

"The, er. Door?" Door suggests, deciding that 'Seely: Nice or Not' is an argument she's not going to win today. "Or is that too obvious?"

"Well... sure," Willow said. "But that's not nearly as much fun as having code words and disguises."

"Is that fun, then?" Door asks quite honestly. "All the running away I've done has centered on actual running, so far."

"You've had to run away before?" Willow asked.

Door laughs a bit drily. "Not from groping, but yes."

"I've had to run away from demons," Willow said, in case that helped.

"I'm not sure what the ...people... I was running from really are. 'People' is stretching the definition a bit, though."

"Vampires?" Willow suggested.

Door shakes her head. "We've got something like those where I live - they steal warmth, not blood, but it wasn't them."

"What are they?" Willow asked. "The warmth stealing things? Are they creepy looking or just like really agressively snuggling puppies?"

Door's thoughtful, at that. "Creepy, a bit, but not like these monster masks people are wearing. They're all women, good-looking if you like that sort. Very pale - paler than me, even - and they all dress in dark gowns. They call themselves Velvets."

"They're Goths?"

"Possibly? Do Goths suck out people's life-force?"

"Does it count if they mostly suck it out of the room?"

"If you don't freeze to death after being around them, they're probably not Velvets," Door clarifies.

"Maybe Goths are a subset," Willow said. "They'll grow up to freezing someday."

"Hopefully not," Door answers, thinking again. "The Velvets don't seem very happy about what they do. Not that they're nice, either, they're just...ugh. They are very good guides, though," she admits.

"See that's just a shame," Willow said. "If you're born to be that way you should at least get some happiness out of it."

"I don't think they're born that way," Door completely theorizes and steals from somebody's homemade RP rules for them says. "I think they make people into things like them, though I'm not sure how."

"Maybe if they steal enough warmth out of them?" Willow guessed.

"They only prey on men, when they're trying to leech warmth for themselves," Door says thinkily. "So perhaps when they do it to a woman, it makes another of them. They don't like competition much, so it doens't happen very often."
