Saturday evening, just outside the school grounds

There really was something irresistable to the trolls about the giant castle thing at the top of the hill.

I mean, come on! Trolls, castle . . . it was like a match made in heaven!

So, once they'd made lots of good headway pillaging and rampaging through the town, the trolls started on their way up the hill, aimed for the gates to the school, grinning and slathering and singing creepy, troll-y songs of glee.

That would make smashing easy! Vock grinned frighteningly and laughed as he pulled his arm back to swing at Ray; he thought maybe he could go for distance with the first smashing.

Okay, trying to box this thing wasn't a good idea.

"Whoa shit," he said, ducking and twisting out of the way of the troll and his smashing ways.

The cudgel whistled over Ray's head and Vock grunted, disappointed that his wind-up had missed. He peered at Ray, lifting it again for another swing. "Stay still," he ordered.

"Yeah right," Ray hissed, hoping his speed would help him here. "I am going to kick you in the head."

Vock prided himself on his heavy hitting. Therefore, speed wasn't exactly his strong point. He growled and swung again, trying to smash Ray into the ground.

This guy reminded him of Miss Snodgrass, his gym teacher. She'd never tried to kill...well, not on purpose.

Ray got closer enough and actually did try to kick Vock in the ribs.

Vock was trying to pull his cudgel from the ground and didn't notice Ray again until he got kicked. He didn't even twitch, but peered down at Ray, eyes narrowing. "S'not nice," he growled. "M'gonna smash you good!"

"You need to brush your teeth," Ray snapped, moving behind Vock and using his foot to push Vock.

"Whut?" Vock frowned fiercely, trying to figure out why you'd do to your teeth what the females did to their hair - Ray had ample time to get behind and shove him, making Vock stumble and fall flat on his face.

And then Ray proceeded to kick Vock in the head.

Vock howled somewhat pathetically as his brain bounced around in his skull. Then he pushed himself up and glared at Ray. "M'gonna smash real good and make you paste!" He swung his free arm at Ray, thinking he could catch him and pin him down for good smashings.

Vock's arm did catch Ray and it sent him sprawling to the ground where he proceeded to get a mouthful of dirt.

Vock pushed himself up all the way and reached for his cudgel, giving a kick in Ray's direction just because he felt like it.

That one hurt and he knew he'd bruise. Stupid damn whatever. In desepration, Ray lunged toward Vock's leg, trying to catch him off guard in some way.

Vock grunted as Ray latched on and he lifted his foot, shaking hard to dislodge him.

Ray held on tight and...bit the troll's leg. Shut up.

That had to taste horrible, and though he could barely feel it, Vock roared in protest. He lifted his cudgel to try and smack Ray off, but managed just to smash his own knee.

He roared again and kicked weakly, stumbling and swaying.

It tasted absolutely horrible and he got a few hairs in his mouth but it had worked somewhat. So, he kept his grip and dug a nail into Vock's leg.

Vock swung again as he leaned over, trying to make sure he'd hit Ray and not himself. Unfortunately, as he leaned over, his cudgel completely missed Ray and bounced off the ground to hit him squarely on the head.

With a groan, he stood up, then toppled backwards to land with a heavy THUMP.

After a moment of stillness, Ray figured it was safe enough to move away. His side ached but Vock was out and he took off before Vock could wake up and be pissed off.
