Saturday evening, just outside the school grounds

There really was something irresistable to the trolls about the giant castle thing at the top of the hill.

I mean, come on! Trolls, castle . . . it was like a match made in heaven!

So, once they'd made lots of good headway pillaging and rampaging through the town, the trolls started on their way up the hill, aimed for the gates to the school, grinning and slathering and singing creepy, troll-y songs of glee.

So the troll had an entire rock and Alphonse had a stone stick. He wasn't dumb enough to go charging right for the thing like that. "I don't suppose asking you and your friends to pick up and leave will work, will it?" he said, aiming for the distraction route; he was still on his toes however, and watched carefully in case the troll decided to pull a move.

It would have been difficult to miss the rock this time, especially since Alphonse had been paying full attention. "Didn't think so," he muttered, ducking toward the side with ease. "And bad move!" Alphonse immediately sprinted towards the troll, now with it unarmed, aiming to jab the end of the stone pole at its stomach.

Alphonse stepped back, still in stance and watching as the troll paused. Sure, it glared at him, but that could hardly be called intimidating if it wasn't going to back it up with action. "I can do more than just make poles, you know," he said. "Unless you decide to give up, I'll go ahead and demonstrate."

... He had to be kidding.

There was a very audible groan from Alphonse as he once again, dodged the flying rock. He looked down at his hand where his pole was, then back up at the troll. Then decided to throw that in the direction of the troll's head.

Wasn't like he was out of material to make anything else he needed.

Okay, that looked a little more than painful, and Alphonse actually did blurt out an "Eew." He had to give the troll some points for effort.

As the troll started coming in his direction, Alphonse quickly glanced around in every direction before coming with an idea. Or one, at least, as the best thing right now would to keep a rather large moving target still.

It was times like this where alchemy was his best friend; he clapped his hands again and nearly slammed them into the ground for another transmutation. This time, a portion of the ground sprouted up like a very large snake near the troll, hopefully to wrap itself around its feet if it wasn't fast enough.

Alphonse stood up, brushed off his gloves, then spotted the pole coming right for him.

He meant to get out of the way in time-- and curse letting his guard down just because this thing proved itself to be an idiot-- yet the pole managed to slam right into his side. When it made impact, he let out a hiss of pain, but Alphonse wasn't going to let that stop him.

"Try that again and I'll restrain your arms, too," he growled, grabbing back the pole. That troll had a thing for throwing stuff, didn't it?

Alphonse stood carefully, keeping a close eye on the troll. Well, crap. He'd been trying to do this without having to get too close to it, but the most damage he made was a poked out eye with a pole. He warily eyed the foot coming close to being free-- Alphonse should have figured that wouldn't keep him contained for long-- and hastily (and probably frantically, too) tried to think up of anything...

If he really had to go up and personal to finish the thing off for good, then he would.

He began slowly approaching the troll, hesitantly even, waiting to see if it would make the first move at all. It was easier to plan according to what it did, anyway.

"Whoa!" Alphonse nearly danced backwards as the troll fell, since being squashed by it? Definitely not on his to-do list. When he felt like he was at a safe distance, he paused, glaring at the troll incredulously. "This is ridiculous," he sighed, keeping guard. "You should just give up if this is the best you can do."

His attempt to get out of the way-- with some grace, Alphonse was trying to put what he learned to good use-- didn't go entirely too well. He was pushed backwards with a good amount of force, hitting the ground hard on his back, causing Alphonse to loose all the air in his lungs. His weapon, if he could call it that much at this point, rolled out of his hand and away from reach; not that it mattered too much at the moment, as trying to regain his stature deemed itself more important.

Somewhere in the middle of that, Alphonse was beating himself up mentally at how lame that was.

No breath be damned, Alphonse noticed that opening and he was going to grab at that wonderful opportunity. To save time he didn't bother trying to get into a lunge first; still on his back, Alphonse swung the hardest kick he could muster towards the troll's gut.
