Saturday evening, just outside the school grounds

There really was something irresistable to the trolls about the giant castle thing at the top of the hill.

I mean, come on! Trolls, castle . . . it was like a match made in heaven!

So, once they'd made lots of good headway pillaging and rampaging through the town, the trolls started on their way up the hill, aimed for the gates to the school, grinning and slathering and singing creepy, troll-y songs of glee.

"Nice work," Anders told him. "You're, uh . . . very effective in this form."

And more than a little bit scary, but Anders was insistently suppressing that thought.

Bel managed to clamp down on his anger long enough to shift back into human form. "Yeah, I'm a lot stronger like that," he said.

"Oh," Anders said evasively, "nothing really. Just curious."

"I'll bet," Bel said. Alas, there was not much time for flirting, because, hey, more trolls to kill.

Shucks. Well, running around with a gun was kind of fun too.

He could probably get in some ogling in the process, anyway.

Unfortunately, Bel wasn't paying attention to the troll that was sneaking up behind him, and it proceeded to hit him over the back of the head with a club, sending him crashing to the ground.

"Well, hell." Anders shook his head and slung the rifle over his shoulder. To Bel's unconscious form he complained, "Shouldn't this be the other way around, so you can shimmer me to the clinic and avoid all these ugly frakking things? But no, you had to go get knocked out, and I am so not dragging your ass through town with these things out there."

With a sigh he leaned down and tried to wrestle the unconscious Bel upward, slinging a limp arm around his own shoulders. "You just better not need any real medical attention, that's all I'm saying," he grumbled, and set off back toward the dorms.
