Saturday evening, just outside the school grounds

There really was something irresistable to the trolls about the giant castle thing at the top of the hill.

I mean, come on! Trolls, castle . . . it was like a match made in heaven!

So, once they'd made lots of good headway pillaging and rampaging through the town, the trolls started on their way up the hill, aimed for the gates to the school, grinning and slathering and singing creepy, troll-y songs of glee.

For once the knee will not be her downfall, and she lowers her head, pushing him back hard.

The troll wraps his arms around Aeryn and tries to squash her against the ground.

She falls, but wriggles a hand free and attempts to press her keys into his temple.

And John comes over, jumps on top of both Aeryn and the trolls and digs his quarter into the back of the troll's neck.

It takes a moment but the troll turns to stone underneath John and on top of Aeryn.

"Off," Aeryn says, already trying to push the troll off of her.

John pushes the stone troll off of her and looks down, still holding his shoulder. "You okay?"

"Fine." She looks at his shoulder and says, "You?"

"I'll live," he says, holding his shoulder. "Not pissy anymore?"

"I'm not 'pissy', and there are still things that need to be taken care of," she says.

"You fucking pushed me," he says, pain clouding his head.

She glances at his shoulder and says, "You were in my way, do you need assistance with that?" all in the same breath.

"Your shoulder."

"My shoulder is fine," he says immediately.

"Fine," she says, and turns away to aim the gauntlet at another troll. It still doesn't work, and when she looks at it, she sees that the bubbling green fluid that had been in there isn't anymore.

"Aeryn, come on," he says, trying to drag her away. "You're weapons broken. Come on!"

"No, they still need to be killed," she says, and unholsters a pulse pistol instead, even if she's moving a little slower than she was.

He reaches out and physically grabs her. "You can kill them in a minute. Help me with my shoulder!"

"You said you didn't need help," she says, but grabs onto him in a way that looks very practiced, actually. "This is going to hurt."

"I know," he says and grits his teeth.

She pulls quickly, and soon a discloated shoulder is located.

"All better," Aeryn says. And she liked the feeling she had before. This isn't so great.
