The Roof, Sunday Night

Pippi had noted that it had been a while since Pip had played guitar on the roof. And Pippi, indeed, was right.

Pip shclepped his guitar up to the roof, lit up a cigarette, and began to play an upbeat song. Specifically "What I Got" by Sublime.

She'd messed up the words. Oh well.

"... and I'm rising to the street?"

Pip pointed at here and nodded. "I've got a dalmatian."

"I can still get high."

"...I can't remember the rest of the song."

Walter was looking for a place to smoke that didn't involve hanging out the window for Al's comfort. Thus, the roof.

"Hey. I believe I may be quite surprised to hear something not at all emo up here."

"Pippi waved at Walter."

Walter waved back. "Hey. What's the latest news from Pippiville."

"The concert was fun. I like geeks better then bikers... And we met our biggest fan when we broke down on the road... And Nadia had a really rough night."

Walter looked up sharply. "What happened?"

"Well we went down the road and we found this little injured critter, and Nadia was trying to see it better so she lit a lighter and it kinda freaked out."

"Yeah. I realized I had been failing in my anti-emo crusade. I will reclaim the roof one day."

"I haven't jumped off the roof in far too long. And roof jumping is never emo."

"Oh, should I play some heavy metal roof jumping music?"

"That might just be a brilliant idea," Walter said with a grin. Not that he cared overmuch about heavy metal, but roof jumping might definitely be in order.

The thing about pondering the universe was, it was a whole lot easier to do when you could see more of it. So after some time spent in the common room chatting with Billy and anyone else who happened to show up there, Nadia headed further up to the roof with a shirt tied around her arm as a sort of improvised brace.

"Hey you." Walter smiled from his place at the edge of the roof. "How is the arm?" And everything else, but why start with the hard questions?

"Doing okay. I actually got to play last night!"

"I'm sorry I missed it," Walter said regretfully. "I'm sure you were brilliant."

"I was out of practice," Nadia replied seriously. "But I did pretty well. I just hope the thingy we ran into doesn't mean I'll have any problems with my shoulder."

"Me having a cold?"

"I missed that? Oh, but you're so funny when you're all hoarse."
