Monday Late Afternoon - Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Following his and Isabel's plans made yesterday, Peter had stopped by J,GOB after Interstellar Relations to pick up a metric ton of coffee, doughnuts, bagels, and assorted other pastries. 

Getting them back to the Common Room was easy, but trying to corral all the books in the Common Room into a cabinet so they wouldn't knock over the coffee was much more difficult.

However he managed to do so and thus there was a table set up with coffee, tea, doughnuts, and pastries.  A sign said "Happy Studying and Good Luck on your Finals from Student Council."  There was an addendum added in pen "Watch out for books!"

Peter was drinking tea and studying his Hunting notes nearby.

Jaye wanders up for the food, but when she sees the sign, she says, "Studying?"

No, it hasn't occurred to her that she needs to do this.

Cally waved at Jaye, and pointed at her notebook. "Studying. As in the thing you do to make sure you don't fail out." She smiled, book-induced black eye and all.

Jaye frowns and says, "I think you're studying wrong."

Cally shrugged. "Cramming is what I do," she said. "That way, you don't have to worry about retaining the useless knowledge beyond the test."

"I gotta say, if it gives me bruises, I'm just going to avoid it and keep to the doughnuts," she says, and picks up a doughnut because she has followthrough sometimes.

"Oh, this?" Cally pointed at the black eye. "This is literary abuse. As in the book actually attacked me. Honest."

"It's because they don't want to be read," says Jaye automatically.

"But then what's the point of being a book?" Cally asked, earnestly.

"Who knows? Maybe they're in the middle of an existential crisis, wondering about that very question, and all of a sudden you pick it up and wham!, viva le revolution!"

"So they tell me," Peter replied with a sigh.

"I already applied to colleges. Do you think it really matters if I fail high school?" she wonders.

"Did they tell you that you could go?" Peter asked.

"No," she says slowly.

"Then I'd say you shouldn't fail high school yet," Peter decided. He grinned. "I like not going to college."

Jaye pouts. "That's not fair. Why don't you have to go?"

Peter shrugged. "We don't really have university in Narnia. Or school like this either."

"Where's that?" she asks. "The UK?"

Buffy flailed eagerly in Jaye's direction. "BFF! Come get your present!"

"Presents already?" she asks, kind of surprised by the timing. But she's still heading over because yay presents.

Buffy nodded as she stuck her head back into her pile of presents. "I'll be leaving really quickly so I don't know if I'll have time to had over presents before I leave. So I'm doing it now! Because presents!"

"Okay," she says, though she can't resist shaking it like a dork. "Why am I waiting?"

Buffy paused. "...I don't really know. I was going to say so you can put it under the tree, but."

"But the tree is all the way downstairs," Jaye points out.

"Yes, and I think your present is trying to escape." Buffy gave the square package a worried look.
