Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Morning

Katara had woken up early and slipped out of her dorm room quietly. She considered going outside for a moment, but she decided to explore the floor she'd ended up on.

Finding herself in a big open room with several couches and tables and quite a few big boxes she had no idea about, she up a small floppy book made out of shiny paper and began to flip through it, looking at the pictures.

"Thank you," she says. "Usually people can't pronounce it. What's S.H.I.E.L.D. supposed to be?"

"It's basically a government spy organization back home. But they kinda encompass a lot more, recently," Cassie said. "They're not exactly the nicest people."

"Oh," she says. "You're not looking into it as a future career, are you?"

"I'm more like being forced into it as a future career," Cassie said. "It's the only way I can still be a superhero."

Hermione blinks. "Superhero?"

"Oh. You don't have those where you're from?" Cassie asked.

"No," she says. "I'm aware of the idea, of course. Aren't you a bit young for that kind of work?" Pot, kettle.

Cassie had to chuckle. "I'm definitely not too little for it," she said. "Me and a bunch of friends were a sort of supergroup, actually. Okay, so I was the youngest, but we still managed to do some real good."

"What kind of things did you do?" Hermione asks, curious.

"We stopped a bank robbery," Cassie said. "And we also helped stop a Skrull and Kree battle over New York. Oh, and we helped take down Hyde, once. He's a supervillian."

"That's impressive," she admits. "What are Skrull and Kree? I've never heard of that." Which means finding out, natch.

"Aliens," Cassie said. "They've been at war for, like, ever."

The concept of aliens isn't exactly new, but... "And they were fighting here?"

"Yeah, they were kinda after one of my teammates," Cassie said. For Teddy's sake, she wasn't going to share it was him.

"What do you do to stop something like that?" she wonders.

"It was really complicated," Cassie said. "It involved tricking them into thinking that my friend was going to go back with them and stuff."

"And it worked?" Not that Hermione's filing that away for any future situations that come up. Not that she thinks she could do that anyway.

"It worked, thanks to the Super Skrull," Cassie said. "Who was nice enough to impersonate my friend."

She frowns and asks, "The Super Skrull was on your side?"

"Yeah," Cassie said. "He turned out to not be too bad. Sort of."

"Well, I'm glad it worked out for the best," she says.

"Me too," Cassie said. Even though things had started going downhill after that. "Well, I'm sure we'll see each other around. The school's kinda small and stuff. It was really nice meeting you, Hermione." She made sure to pronounce it right.
