Second Floor Common Room, Early Saturday Morning

Sam hadn't gone back to her room after leaving Parker's party. She'd taken a very long run around the island, and then swam some laps in the pool in an attempt to exhaust herself into sleep, but it didn't work. She couldn't focus enough to work on her swoop bike or the wormhole equations on her wall, and she didn't have any homework to do.

Which was how she'd ended up in the common room making many pots of coffee and setting out an assortment of pastries from J, GoB (along with a little sign that said No, I didn't make them! and a reference phone number for the bakery in case anyone wanted to call and check). She wasn't exactly feeling social, but that could always change. She started nibbling on a bear claw and flipped through channels on the television.

"She was my baking teacher," Sam remembered, "and I almost set the kitchen on fire making crepes. She was incredibly understanding and provided me with fire extinguishers after that."

Wyatt snickered. "Did she have to freeze the fire?"

"I don't remember," Sam admitted, "but I think Anders and I took care of it more or less on our own."

"Burning the school down could get you expelled," Wyatt said solemnly.

"Yes, but it wasn't intentional, so we were okay there," Sam said.

"You could've always blamed it on jello dragons or something, I guess," Wyatt said, grinning. "That one's real, right? Not a joke they're playing on the newbies to see how much they can get us to believe?"

"No, that one's real," Sam said with a roll of her eyes. "I tried to chase one into the pond, but they're smarter than you'd think."

"Got it," Wyatt said. "Do they attack often?"

"The dragons? No, just the once."

"Maybe next time we'll have Jello Shot Dragon," Wyatt said. "Now those I think I could deal with."

Sam laughed. "Jaye Tyler and I are thinking of trying our hands at gummi bear shots."

Wyatt grinned. "Sign me up for that!"

"I'll make sure we let you know, though, really, you might not want to be around until we perfect the recipe," she laughed.

"I don't know, might be fun to be the guinea pig," Wyatt said.

Sam cracked up. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but your aunt would kill me."

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her," Wyatt said mischievously.

"Oh, I pity your poor parents," Sam laughed. "You must have been quite a handful growing up."

"My grandpa raised me and Chris," Wyatt said. "My parents...weren't around. But yeah, he said I was a terror." Wyatt managed a grin.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Sam said sympathetically, "I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."

"It's okay," Wyatt said. "Just makes it extra weird to find Aunt Phoebe here, and to think I have a chance to meet Mom."

"I'm glad you have this chance, then," Sam said. "From the little I knew of Piper while she was here, she had the patience of a saint."

"Grandpa always said she was the most sensible one of she and her sisters," Wyatt said, smiling. "Best fashion sense, too."

"Well, I can't really judge that," Sam said, "but Piper was always nice to me and seemed sensible. But other than that...what do you want to do while you're in Fandom? Any plans?"

"Learn about magic and demons mostly," Wyatt said. "Figure out how to use my powers."

"What kind of powers do you have?" Sam chewed on her lip, then said, "I can't help you there. I am very much non-magical, and the first demon I met was Bel. I think."
