Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

After handwavy shopping for supplies and food, Peter and Isabel decorated the Common Room and hung a banner across the back saying  "Congratulations on Surviving Our First Week of Classes!"  

A big cake of whatever flavour you want to mod saying much the same thing, soda, chips, and lots of other food were laid out on the table along with poppers, kazoos, noisemakers, and other party favours and games.

In short, the Common Room was set up for a big Student Council sponsored party for all students old and new.

"Oh! I know this one!" Willow gave a curtsey. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Irulan nearly grinned at that but settled for a pleased smile instead. "It is a pleasure to meet you too, Willow."

"Did I get it right?" Willow asked as she stood up again. "Everyone swears I do okay but I can't help but feel this is courtly politeness that makes it physically impossible for them to say anything except positives."

"You executed it well," Irulan assured with a smile.

"Thank you," Willow said. "I've been practicing. Luckily Peter's sisters are a little more helpful in this area than he is. He's not much for wearing skirts."

Irulan glanced at King Peter, "I think he would agree with that statement."

"He does look good in the armor though," Willow said. "So what brings you to Fandom?"

Irulan decided that Willow might be a minor nobility in King Peter's kingdom.

"My father, the Emperor, decided I study hre and broaden my horizons," she said, it comes easy now.

"This will definitely be a good place for it," Willow said. "I don't think you can get much broader than Fandom, horizon-wise. Out of curiosity, do you have any particular feelings about witches?"

Hey, the last royals she'd met had had issues. She'd learned to ask.

"I think it is a deragatory term. It has been used to describe the powerful Bene Gesserit sister. My mother was a Bene Gesserit and I am training to be one myself." Irulan paused adding grudgingly, "Although, they have been known to let people think they are witches so they may instill fear and hold sway over those who do not know science and Bene Gesserit ways."

Well now Willow was all curious. "What's a Bene Gesserit?"

It was all so terribly complicated to an outsider with no knowledge of her history.

"The Bene Gesserit are a powerful sisterhood," she began, "One of the three powerful institutions that hold sway over the Known Universe. The other two being, the Imperial House and the Spacing Guild. Bene Gesserits choose to wield power behind the scenes, they have also through rigorous training and discipline developed abilities that may be considered magical such as foreseeing the future and some reading the minds of others."

"Neat!" Willow said, thinking that sounded like a great deal of fun. "I'm a witch, myself. I do spells, move things with my mind, that sort of thing."

"Spells?" Irulan was confused, "Do you mean to say you have real magic?"

"Yep," Willow said. "For instance if you ever need to disinvite a vampire from your room, I'm your gal."

"There is such a thing as magic, and creatures out of myth." Irulan said slowly, she considered it for a moment. "I suppose it is not as impossible to believe as an island that serves as an interdimensional hub."

"I was lucky and got a dimensional primer before I came here," Willow said. "It made the culture shock much easier to deal with."
