Second Floor Common Room - Wednesday Night

Kawalsky wasn't just in the common room. He was in the common room with enough junk food to last the night, pillows, all the blankets he could find and a bunch of chairs. The TV was playing the third hour of a Rescued by the Alarm marathon. It was the one where Bessie didn't get into the college she wanted and Shriek kept getting into the oddest colleges, so Bessie kept freaking out at everyone and scaring them with her giant feet.

Kawalsky was only half-watching it anyway. He was busy trying to make a giant room fort that covered the TV.

Cassie nodded. "That's usually the more useful thing to do. Except when you're on the top of a building and need to worry about weight capacities and stuff."

"Yeah, you wouldn't wanna become a big, blonde Godzilla crushing stuff. So the clothes don't go with changes?"

"I have something that does," Cassied pulled the collar of her shirt down a bit to show off a bit of her unstable molecule suit that was on underneath. "But that's been specially treated to. Normal stuff just stretches and tears."

"That's gotta suck if you're the modest type and you're not wearing your Wonderland suit."

"Yeah, it really sucked when I first discovered my powers," Cassie said.

"Well, if it ever happens again, I'll be a perfect gentleman and not look. Promise."

"Thanks," Cassie said with a bit of a laugh. "I try to wear the 'Wonderland' suit all the time, though. Just to be safe. Since you saw I don't totally control my powers real well."

He shrugged. "There's plenty of time to learn. Maybe someone here can help you out."

"Hopefully," Cassie said. "I figure experience and stuff will help, too."

"Fandom's the place for that. Never a dull moment. Well, there's a few dull moments, but that's what forts are for!"

"Apparently," Cassie said with a laugh. "You do this often?"

"Forts are more Crichton's thing, but when I get bored there's usually something weird going on. I don't do boredom well."

"I don't think I've met him," Cassie said. "Me, I... kinda like the quiet."

"Quiet's good sometimes. But don't you ever get restless?"

"I just kinda escaped from a sort-of war," Cassie said.

"Ah," he nodded. That he understood. "I kinda did the same thing when I first got here. It's a good place to be if you can't go home."

"Yeah," Cassie said. "Definitely glad for that. Just have to be ready for whatever weird invasion comes, apparently."

"Eh, invasions are a piece of cake. I'm more worried about passing classes."

"You know, I woulda thought it was the other way around," Cassie said.

"When you're used to fighting all the time, it's more comfortable to be doing that instead of trying to cram for exams."
