Second Floor Common Room - Wednesday Night

Kawalsky wasn't just in the common room. He was in the common room with enough junk food to last the night, pillows, all the blankets he could find and a bunch of chairs. The TV was playing the third hour of a Rescued by the Alarm marathon. It was the one where Bessie didn't get into the college she wanted and Shriek kept getting into the oddest colleges, so Bessie kept freaking out at everyone and scaring them with her giant feet.

Kawalsky was only half-watching it anyway. He was busy trying to make a giant room fort that covered the TV.

Irulan cocked her head at Charlie, "What are you doing?"

"Building a pillow and blanket fort to sleep in. What are you doing?"

"I tried to write but I cannot focus," Irulan said, it was getting easier for her to be blase about things she didn't know. Instead of asking, Irulan took the nearest pillow on hand and passed it to Charlie.

He gratefully accepted the pillow and tossed it onto the pile holding one of the blankets down. "The dorms aren't really the best place to focus on anything. But there's free food again if you want to scan it."

Irulan smiled, she wasn't hungry but for conversation's sake said. "There always seems to be free food here."

"It's the one constant in the world of crazy."

"It is," she agreed, she reached for a blanket, "Do you still need more?"

"More food, more crazy or more blankets?"

Irulan laughed, "Which ever you prefer, remember, it isn't everyday an Impreial princess offers to help build a fort."

"That's very, very true. I don't think I've ever made a fort with a princess before, imperial or not."

It belatedly occured to Irulan that she had actually laughed, what next giggling? She caught a blanket, pausing to fold it before handing it to Charlie.

"Forts are essential," she said with a nod and a more subdued smile.

"Can't do without them. They protect you from enemy invaders and annoying people, depending on where you make it."

"It is also a good place to keep your fortunes, or chocolates."
