Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Dawn was wearing the same jeans and sweater she'd been wearing yesterday, not wanting to head back to her room and too tall to borrow Molly's. She was also freezing, which had led to her mixing up a very large pot of oatmeal. The fixings were in the cupboard if anyone wanted them, but she wasn't setting them out.

Instead, she was sitting with her bowl of healthy goodness (once you ignored the raisins and brown sugar she'd added to her own) and a very, very large mug of hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. She read through a large pile of books and scrolls she'd brought with her and that Giles had sent since May (not all of which were in English), trying to find anything that explained what was going on.

She made occasional notes on a pad as she worked.

"I'm not, actually," Spider-Ham said. "Unless that's pork oatmeal, which would be disturbing on many levels."

"Dude, we're pretty distrubed no matter what kind of oatmeal that is."

"Yeah, this place would probably do that to you," Spider-Ham said. "I've been here a day and lions have tried to eat me twice. That kind of thing should probably be looked into."

"You're a pig." When in doubt, state the obvious.

"You're a human," Spider-Ham said. "It's nice to see that we have the basics down."

"See, pigs don't usually worry about having the basics of conversation down," Dean pointed out. "Because they can't talk."

"You see, that's just speciest," Spider-Ham said. "Where I come from, all of the animals talk and wear clothes."

"Where's that?" Dean asked, figuring every little bit of info might help.

"Earth," Spider-Ham said. He could probably give a more detailed answer, but this was fun.

Dean rolled his eyes. "Just what I need, smart alec bacon on the hoof..."

"There aren't humans where I come from. Just animals like me," Spider-Ham said. "That seems to be pretty weird for most of the people here."

"Ya think?" Dean shook his head. "I think this even tops the jello dragons."

"That's just crazy talk. Jello dragons..." Spider-Ham scoffed.

"You're a talking pig," Dean said pointing out the obvious. "You don't really have room to scoff."

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah, but talking pigs are normal," Spider-Ham said. "My family is full of them."

"You and all ten of your brothers and sisters?" Dean guessed.
