Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Dawn was wearing the same jeans and sweater she'd been wearing yesterday, not wanting to head back to her room and too tall to borrow Molly's. She was also freezing, which had led to her mixing up a very large pot of oatmeal. The fixings were in the cupboard if anyone wanted them, but she wasn't setting them out.

Instead, she was sitting with her bowl of healthy goodness (once you ignored the raisins and brown sugar she'd added to her own) and a very, very large mug of hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. She read through a large pile of books and scrolls she'd brought with her and that Giles had sent since May (not all of which were in English), trying to find anything that explained what was going on.

She made occasional notes on a pad as she worked.

"The girl who does the Radio." Nefertiri nodded. "She seemed most agitated during last night's broadcast. Is she well?" She frowned. "A number of people seem to be ill. Is there an epidemic?"

"Something like that," Dean said. "Let's just say a lot of people aren't feeling like themselves."

"Then they should summon a physician or priest. And not ask me if *I* feel well." Nefertiri shook her head. Then gave Dean a hopeful look. "If you disrobed, people might feel better." She gave him a mischevious look. "I would."

"It's not quite as warm here as it is in Egypt," Dean pointed out. "I need my clothes to keep from catching cold."

"I have noticed. We should build a bonfire." She took a drink of orange juice, and said, "You seem unaffected by the strangeness. How is it that others are ill? Have you some protection upon you?"

"Well I have my amulet," Dean said, holding it up by the string. "But that's not really any big protective magic. Guess maybe I just got lucky this time."

Nefertiri looked closely at the amulet. "Interesting." She then looked up at Dean, smiling slightly. "Are you a priest? Or perhaps a warrior, like the Medjai?"

"Hunter," Dean said. "So, kinda like a warrior I guess."

Nodding approvingly, Nefertiri said, "If you need assistance in killing whatever is causing this upset, feel free to call on me. I shall be happy to assist." She twirled the knife in her hand, then speared another bit of pineapple. "I have not yet had the chance to do so here."
