The Roof: Sunday night, well after dark

The Beast was crouched on the corner of the roof, looking out over Fandom.

Half hidden in the shadows and the night, he was brooding - dramatically - and also for some reason humming under his breath.

Two days, and his life had changed dramatically -- because of Samantha.

It was unexpected. It was inexplicable.

Without really noticing, his humming segued into song. (Because the power of Disney narrative can not be denied.)

She glanced this way, I thought I saw
And when we touched
She didn't shudder at my paw
No it can't be, I'll just ignore
But no one's ever looked at me that way before.

If he'd realised what he was singing, he'd likely be horrified.

[ooc: open, as roofs are, but you'll probably need to get his attention. Lyrics twisted slightly. ]

When Simba finally arrived on the roof his jaw dropped open at what he saw. It was a beast! A terrifying monstrous beast!

Oh man, that thing would keep him feed for days!

With a huge grin he dropped close to the ground, and tried to sneak up on the thing's swishy tail.

Simba's own tail swished back and forth with anticipation as he watched the Beast's tail. It was all the joy of watching a dangly string, coupled to the happy thought of getting a great dinner with it. Just ... a few ... steps closer ...

Judging that he was finally close enough, Simba shifted all his weight to his back paws, and launched himself off in full pounce mode. "Raaaar!" he cried as he tried to latch onto the twitching tail with his itty bitty fangs.

Even though he was dangling at an odd angle, Simba was determine to hold on as best he could to his prey. He real king wouldn't give up just because the Beast was bigger and stronger than he was, and could probably beat him up.

"Mmm taafer zan aa look," he said through a mouthful of fur.

Simba crossed his paws as he was embarrassingly picked up by the scruff of his neck. He was never going to get this pouncing thing right.

" 'Cause I've been all around the grounds here, and I haven't been able to find any herds of gazelles or other stuff. My Dad said that I should practice my pouncing skills on something." He looked away sheepishly. "So I did."

Simba tried to resist his inner cat instincts to pounce on the Beast's tail again. If he tried attacking the bigger creature a second time, he'd probably fail again. Ducks, on the other hand were something he might have a chance with, being the same size and all.

"I'm Simba!" He puffed out his chest a little. "The future King of the Pridelands!"

Simba did the best lion equivalent of a bow he could for his furry admirer.

"Just the Beast? You don't have a real name or anything?" he asked.

"Aww, that's too bad," said Simba sympathetically. "Everyone needs a name. I'l call you ... Mnyama! How about that?"

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Simba was thrown off guard by the weird noise, but decided to take it as a good sign anyway. He grinned.

"You're Welcome! I still have a long way to go if I want to be as good as my Dad, though. He's the best."

Simba grinned even wider at that. He'd only seen one other lion around these parts, so he knew who it had to be.

"That was my Dad! He's the greatest lion in the whole world!" he said. "Hey, what's your Dad like? Is he as hairy as you?"

Jaye's very happy to see the lion cub Zero told her about. And okay, whoever that is, it's the cutest transformation ever.

Not that Jaye would ever think anything like that, nope.

Simba noticed someone with a camera off to the side somewhere. Hey, an adoring fan! He struck what he considered to be an impressive pose.

"Very nice," Jaye tells him, snapping another picture.

Oddly enough, she's weirdly comfortable with lions.

Simba struck a couple different poses for the girl with the camera. He just *loved* being the centre of attention. Hamlet was likely going to kill him for it next week.

"Oh, yeah, work it, baby," Jaye laughs, still snapping pictures. Seriously, this is adorable. It might become her computer wallpaper.
