Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Evening

Lucas had a giant bowl of popcorn and was sitting in front of the TV. There was a documentary on, but the remote control was out of reach, so if anyone grabbed it they could probably flick over to something else.

Stark was feeling like attempting to be social again, so he'd gone in search of an occupied common room. And look, here was an occupied common room.

"Hello," he said to the room, and waved.

Lucas raised a hand to wave. "Hey. It's popcorn and penguin night." He may have been a little too relieved to see another guy.

"You're not eating the penguins, are you?" It was Fandom, you never knew. "Just the popcorn?"

"Just the popcorn. I'm not a big fan of eating sea animals."

"Okay." Stark nodded, then found himself a seat. "Are you sharing the popcorn?"

Yes, he was shameless in the pursuit of free food.

"Sure." He offered the bowl. "It's good. Salted."

Stark grinned and took a handful of the popcorn. "Thank you."

"Sure. So uh, you like penguins?"

"I talked to one, once," Stark said. "He seemed nice. Friendly. So yes. I do. You?"

"Sure. I haven't talked to one, but then I don't speak penguin so I don't think we'd have much of a conversation."

"It wasn't that hard to learn. Penguin, I mean. But it was easier after other bird languages, I think."

"Were you in that creature languages class where they taught dolphin?"

"I was," Stark confirmed. "I liked dolphin, and talking to the dolphin. She was very friendly, very fun."

The other girls? Really shouldn't have encouraged Turtle. She bounced on the couch as Stark came in.

"Behold! He who has no hair will confuse the Braid and they will flee in terror!"

Stark gave Turtle a very odd look.

"What?" He paused. "I have hair! It's just short. Very short. Who's fleeing?"

"Exactly! Too short to be Braided! It will confuse the Braids and they will flee." She nodded, as if it was the most logical thing in the world.

"Oh." Stark was still giving Turtle a very odd look and wondering if there were gremlins involved, somehow.

"Do we want them to flee?"

"Unless they make an anti-hostility agreement, yes."

"Do your braids usually make agreements?" Maybe it wasn't a gremlin. Maybe it was a blow to the head.

"And you think my hair, lack of hair, will help?"

It might have been that Mr. Deadpool laced the turtle plushie he gave her with crack.

Turtle nodded. "Yes. You, sir, are correct."

That would explain it, yes.

"I see," said Stark, though he really didn't. But playing along couldn't hurt. "What do you need me to do then? To make these braids flee?"

That was a good question.

"Something...scary? To fightening them off with your unbraidable hair?"

"Um," Stark said, very helpfully. "My hair just being very short is not scary enough for them? I don't know how to make my hair scary. I've never tried to make it scary, before. And I've never had to try and scare away braids."

Turtle sighed. "Just go like this:"

Curling her fingers, she held them up, flanking her face. She wrinkled her nose and, gritting her teeth together and drawing back her lips, she let out a growl. "Grrrrrr."

"See? Scary."

"Okay..." Stark said, then attempted to mimic what Turtle had done. He even "grr"ed a little.
