Off on the third floor of Sunset Towers, beside Lake Michigan, in Westingtown, Wisconson, socialite and party planner extrodinair Grace Windsor Wexler might have felt a strange, sudden pang of pride for her youngest daughter.

Turtle had prepared the common room for Tannim's birthday party with a discretely tasteful collection of decorations, a snack spread perfect of any event of this sort, and a great selection of bad, cheesy horror films. Now it was just a matter of people arriving to enjoy it, especially the birthday boy.

Oh, and one other thing, in light of the recent academic of wee-tiny adults. She placed a sign outside the common room:

And, being only a two years (and eleven months) shy of twelve herself, she knew that was just asking for the kids to flock. So she hired out the big Mexican kid to act as bouncer.

Billy lounged back on the sofa with some munchies and a drink. "Bring on the cheese."

Ami perched on an edge of the sofa. "What is this?"

"Tiny Shop of Terrors." Billy said. I think there's a musical version too."

"A horror movie musical?"

"More comedy than horror I think, but yeah."

"I am used to large thing stomping on cities. This is smaller..." She slid down off the sofa arm and onto the sofa itself. "How has your weekend been?" She had been hiding all weekend herself.

"Hiding. You?"

"Hiding." She smiled. "Wait, what were you hiding from?"

"Uhm, kids"

"Kids? What kids?" she looked around, noticing several. "Why? And where did they come from?"

"From what I hear, they're the adults turned into kids. They, kinda make me uncomfortable."

...somehow, hiding behind the sofa from the scary things on the telly came naturally to the Doctor.

Best thing about having to help Tannim over to the sofa because of overprotective mercs headbanging him in the groin? Convenient excuse to sit close to him under the guise of aiding him.

Tannim was quite happy to have Turtle sitting close to him. "What are we watching first?" he asked.

"I thought we'd start with Tiny Shop of Terror," Turtle smiled a little. " 'Cause, y'know..." She shrugged, trying not to make too big a deal out of the fact that she made sure they started with that one because that was the movie they saw together last time.

Tannim grinned. "Sure," he said. "'Long as you haven't had any nightmares about lamps."

"Oh, terrible ones," Turtle nodded. "But I figured, the best way to overcome a fear is to face it." She smirked.

"Go into the light!" Tannim said.

Turtle giggled. "Nice one."

"Thanks!" Tannim noticed that her hand was resting near his. He casually slid his hand over and slipped his hand into hers.

Eeeeeeep! He was totally holding her hand! Turtle, blushing, bit her lip excitedly and her shoulders shrugged up a little shyly. OH, WELL. Better not make a big deal out of it or anything in front of alllll these people and just go with the flow. And totally hold his hand back. Maybe let out a small happy sigh, too.

Tannim smiled, relieved that she hadn't pulled away. "So, maybe this movie is all about the symbolism," he suggested. "Like, the bloodthirsty lamp represents the price we pay for technology in our society."

"Or perhaps our energy consumed society," Turtle suggested. "Because a lamp isn't all that technological. But it is representative of how much light and energy and crap we use."
