Fourth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Morning

When Dawn had explained to Sam why they were kitten-sitting Hunter over the break, he hadn't let himself get jealous right away. After all, it was much healthier to wait until he was by himself to get bitter and cranky.

He was still feeling kind of annoyed in the morning, but he was making up for it by sprawling out on one of the couches and teasing Hunter with a laser pointer. Scout was sitting by his side, looking far more interested in his new chew toy than the kitten-y entertainment.

After seeing Lana settled at the clinic, Neil headed back up to the school. His muscles were seriously not happy with him and he could feel them starting to stiffen up.

Shower...breakfast...shower...breakfast, decisions, decisions.

Deciding on breakfast, Neil forced himself up the next flight of steps to the 4th floor. He needed to retrieve his skillet from the other day.

Sam was trying to see how high he could get Hunter to jump for the red laser light when he saw Neil and gave him a friendly nod. "Hey."

"Morning, Sam." Neil said with a weak smile and a wave as he paused to make certain he didn't step on any darting furry creatures who might or might not be students.

Peter swung by the common room to hang out and do common room things. "Hey Sam."

He noticed the cat. "That a student?"

"Nope, it's Dean's cat," Sam replied, flashing Peter a grin. "But the fact that you had to ask shows you've officially been at this school long enough to get by."

"I ran into Jack the mouse the other day," Peter said. "I'd say I'm getting the hang of this except I know that's just gonna cue up something that'll make my brain melt."

"Morning, Peter." Neil offered, giving the other boy a wave with the skillet.

"Hey Neil," Peter said. "Going for bacon again?"

There was a kitten and a puppy in the room. That was adorable overload.

Unless...

"Those aren't students, are they?"

Sam laughed. "No, they're real animals, as far as my brother and I know, that is."

Teddy nodded. "Okay, good. If people start turning into animals, I'd like some warning."

Jake just wanted more coffee and possibly a snack. He blinked at the animals. This place was a zoo, seriously.

Sam stealthily pointed the laser pointer to a spot by Jake's feet, so Hunter would go near him.

And suddenly Jake was doing some quick steps to the side to avoid getting pounced on by a cat. "Hey, what the--?"

Teddy waved at his fellow shape shifter. "Hey Jake."

Jake waved a little back. "'Lo. What's up?"

Mac didn't really pay much attention to the animals, because around here, there were far weirder things to come across in a common room.

She just wandered in, gave a general wave of greeting, and flopped on a sofa with an apple she had with her as breakfast.

Jake gave her a quick smile back.

"New room working out okay?" Mac asked, with a small smile in return. She polished her apple absently with a sleeve before taking a bite.

Scout seemed to think that Mac was deserving of more attention, because he finally got up from lounging by Sam, and wandered over to her, sniffing.

Teddy smiled and waved back. "Hey Mac!"

Annette...just didn't have anything else to do. She wandered in, gave everyone a wave of greeting and looked at the animals with an amused grin.

She plopped down in a chair and just sort of slouched there, not having much energy to do more than that.

"Hi Annette." Jake wandered over to her. "How did cheerleading go?"

"Hey Annette!" Teddy said. "Congratulations on winning the cheerleading thingy."
