Alec had apparently decided to take Hades' announcement to heart today, as he sat in the common room kitchen with a giant pot on the stove and many weetiny penguins running around. The stove was on, the water coming to a boil, and Alec was hungry.

Rikku heard the chaos and poked her head in. "Whoa. Boiling? What!?"

She glared at Alec. "Don't you dare!"

The weetiny penguin hiding in her leg-pouch peeped its agreement.

"Why not?" Alec frowned; everyone was really big on him not having any penguins when they already had their own. It was really unfair.

Rikku stared at him. What kind of a question was that!?

"Because they're penguins! And cute! And not food! Food is not cute! Food does not make cute little peep noises with big eyes and you stop it right now!!"

"Penguins are totally food!" Alec protested. "They are made of meat and meat is food!"

"So what!?" Rikku rolled her eyes. "You're made of meat, too, and you're not food! And neither is my roommate's cat! Not all meat is food!"

Alec snorted. "It'd be food in the right situation," he said.

"If you were, like, starving to death in the frozen wastelands or something. Not in the common room where there's food down in the cafeteria with that guy with the really cool accent."

She folded her arms. "I hope you don't have any pets."

"What would I want a pet for?" Alec asked, confused.
