Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Brunch
Dawn decided the time was right to attempt to make french toast. What could be better on Easter Sunday than brunch, right? So she'd handwavily bought some good bread, eggs, sugar, and vanilla, and was currently trying to figure out the right proportions of things. The griddle wasn't heating yet.
Being Dawn, in addition to syrup, she'd also bought strawberry jam, nutella, tobasco sauce, chocolate chips, walnuts, bananas, raspberry sauce, caramel, and peanut butter. There were also bacon and ham available if someone wanted to make them, and plenty of extra eggs and bread in case someone didn't want to go the french toast route.
She sipped at her pineapple juice and contemplated going to look up a recipe.
[ooc: Open like an open thing! Food is completely moddable.]

"Sorry Leia's planet blew up. That's awful! Is she okay!?"

He made a face. "Leia was...she wasn't on the planet, but she watched it destroyed from space to make her talk. It didn't work."

And gasped. "Whoa, they did!? That's CRAZY! They just told us they were executing us and dumped us in a sewer!" She looked at him. "Government, right?"
no subject
as his mun makes things up liek woah, wtf, Lucas, wtf, "yeah. Most of the time, it was just incredibly hot--they stuck together most of the year."He made a face. "Former government, but yes. Turns out blowing up a planet upsets a lot of people."

She shook her head. "You mean, they actually got caught? Our government would have just blamed the Al Bhed and used that as a reason to blow more of our stuff up." She shrugged. "They were really good at covering stuff up."

There was a bitter laugh at the end there.

She closed her eyes. "If they weren't trying to control people, then ... what was the point of it? The religion, I mean."
Her tone wasn't malicious; she was honestly curious why anyone would start one if you weren't going to get something out of it.

"So, there's - a Force to everything? I guess that sounds kinda neat." She shrugged. "How do you ... I mean, can you control it?"
"Whoa, your dad's here? That's gotta be nice for you. I mean, I hope so. Unless he's like my dad." She giggled. "But he's not following you around telling you not to talk to any girls and cussing, so I bet not."

She smiled ruefully. "I'm starting to think a lot of us here have long stories."

Which was understating things by quite a considerable margin, but Luke was all about being polite.
"I'm sorry to hear about your mother," he continued.
no subject
"It's okay about my mom. My world ... I think it isn't like here. So many people here just ... I don't know. My mom's dead, and both of Yunie's parents, and Lulu's and Wakka's, too. Lots of my friends have both parents dead. And some of my friends are dead, too." She shrugged, trying to seem indifferent. "I think it's different here."

"I think ... my world is going to be different now. We changed it. We had to." She swallowed. "Dawn and I said we're gonna start a club. About how, you know, you save the world, really, and everyone else goes and has a party, and you ... you get to go to the funerals."

He gave her a small smile. "Any t-shirts along with the club?" he asked.
no subject
She clapped her hands excitedly and did bounce at that. "Yes! That was the point! I mean, the name! It was gonna be 'I Saved the World and All I Got Was This Stupid T-Shirt.' And we were gonna make the t-shirts so that at least we'd have something, right?"
