First Floor Lobby: Sunday afternoon

Finals started tomorrow, so Jack was - surprisingly enough - studying.

He was doing it in a very Jack way, though. He'd claimed the biggest couch in the first floor lobby as his own and was currently sprawled across it, shirtless, sucking on a lollipop while he flipped through a textbook.

Propped up at each end of the couch was a sign which read--





"Worried about Finals?

Lick a Seahorse for Luck!

The table next to him held several empty coffee cups, with books and notes piled haphazardly next to them, and sitting underneath it - where it wouldn't be immediately apparent to anyone walking past - was a large box, filled with lollipops that he would happily share.

"Uh huh, sure you do," he said dubiously. "Built up over time?"

"Time and concentrated contact," she nodded.

"I really like the sound of that," he murmured, nuzzling her neck. "Just you and me, with time and concentrated contact."

"Mmmmmm. Can't say it's the worst idea ever..."

"I should hope not." Jack pulled away a little, resting his head on the back of the couch, just smiling at her while he traced his fingers up and down her arm. "I have a final, first thing tomorrow morning. This concentrated contact idea of yours sounds like a good way to get over it."

"It so happens I have Monday free," she said, "especially since I'm going to flunk the final in Ares's class no matter what I do."

Jack suspected there was a guaranteed way to pass Ares's class, but as he wanted to continue living he wasn't going to mention it, even as a joke. "I might be flunking it with you," he said, threading his fingers through hers. "This is starting to sound like the beginnings of a plan."

"Does the Time Agency care?" She asked, curious.

"Doubt it." Jack shrugged one shoulder. "I've got my place, Christmas cemented it. They want me. And in three weeks they'll come and get me," he said quietly, watching his finger as it drew patterns on her shoulder. "Just waiting to hear exactly when."

"They haven't told you yet?"

"The week after graduation is all I know," he explained. "I'll get specific details - time and date and place - closer to then."

Sam nodded. She didn't have any departure details to offer, but that was mostly because she wasn't sure she was going to be leaving with him. "Are you excited?"

"Sort of." He smiled crookedly. "Yes to going, no to leaving, if that makes sense."

"It makes perfect sense--I feel the same way."

"Kind of sucks, doesn't it? The leaving part." He snagged a lollipop out of the box and started fiddling with it.

"No kind of about it," she laid her head on his shoulder.

I'm going to miss you. But he didn't say it, just rested his head against hers. "No, no maybe about it."

"Think Cedric's going to be okay?" She asked, having thought about this a bit since the weekend before.

"Isabel will watch out for him. I'm getting Parker to get her contacts to do up a whole set of ID for him, put him into the records, so if something happens he'll be safe here." He sighed and kissed her hair. "And he's strong, stronger than when he first arrived. He'll be okay, but I'm going to miss him. A lot."

"Me too," not that they were overly close, but they were friends, and he was being left behind, "but it's good that you have that faith in him."

"He's managed to deal with me for almost a year, hard not to." He remembered some of what Cedric had had to deal with, and then boggled slightly at the year part of it. "Almost a year," he repeated, sort of amazed.

"Long time. Last relationship I had that lasted that long was my fiancee."

"Never had one before, long or short." Jack tipped his head to look at her. "Now I've had two that made it to almost a year."

"...almost a year? Seriously?"

"I think so. I haven't really been keeping track, but I've been back almost a year, we started being what we are not long after that, so yeah," he tucked a bit of hair behind her ear, trailed his finger down her neck, "almost a year."
