Curupira campfire - Monday evening

Since she had no workshops today, Molly had slept in and then spent the majority of the day puttering around the cabin. The glittery was getting to her though. So, she went to sit outside for a while with her back to the cabin. She ignored the fact that she was almost as glittery as the cabin by now.

"I thought boys here liked glitter?" Naminé stopped sketching to try to remember. "Or had glitter, or ... there was something about boys being especially partial to it."

"Yeah, but I'm from Stuckeyville. I've only been here for a week. I'm not like the other boys here."

"Oh. I'm sorry." Naminé lifted a shoulder with a hopeful smile. "Maybe you'll get accustomed to it, with time."

"I'm not sure I want to."

"It's harmless enough, isn't it?" Naminé shrugged. "Glitter, I mean."

"Not to my reputation!"

"Reputation?" Naminé looked at him oddly. "I'm ... sorry, I don't follow."

"I have my manly pride! I can't have manly pride while covered in glitter!"

Naminé laughed at that. "Oh, I see. My apologies to your manly pride, then. Are you sure your manliness isn't strong enough to withstand sparkles?"

"Well, I think it is, but not everyone around here knows that, yet."

"You shall have to show them," she smiled. Only teasing a little, really. "I have faith in you."

Warren blinked. "Wow. Um. Thanks. I'm Warren Cheswick."

"My name is Naminé." She offered a hand. "It's good to meet you, Warren. I hope for your sake your cabin returns to its unglittered state shortly."

"Thanks. It's going to take a lot of scrub brushes, though."

"Is it?" Naminé considered. "If this is an enchantment, then won't all of the glitter disappear just as miraculously as it appeared to begin with?"

"Enchantment? What, like some kind of magic spell? Right. Because the world is a fairy tale."

Naminé smiled faintly. "You don't believe in magic? It's as real as you or I. I've been told I'm a witch, though I'm not sure my powers are quite the same."

"No, I don't believe in magic." Because he wasn't crazy and he was from a world where magic doesn't exist. "But if you want to try to show me some, you're welcome, everyone else is doing it,"

Naminé thought for a minute, and then nodded. "Very well. I will."

She held out her hand and focused. And then a black-and-purple oval - around six feet high - appeared in the air in front of her. Black smoke curled upwards from it.

"Would you care to step into my cabin?"

Warren blinked at the oval a lot. He reached out a finger to poke at it. "Dude, you've got the best effects so far."

"It's not an effect. It's a portal." She smiled. "I do like that you're impressed. You can travel between any two points, if you know how to open darkness. Darkness connects everything, after all, just like light does."

Naminé nodded slightly. "It's perfectly safe. It's just a doorway to my cabin. I didn't think you'd appreciate going very far, should you decide to step through."

Warren totally modded her portal, not dirty, omg blinked more at the portal thingy, then cautiously stuck his hand in.

It didn't feel any different, so he tried sticking his head in.

A moment later, he pulled it back out and turned to stare wide eyed at Naminé. Then he stuck his head back in and turned to stare again. He repeated this process several times.

"Holy crap, that thing is real!"

"Of course," she said, amused. "You can step through it if you'd like. Or I will, if you're not sure of it. Would you like me to?"

Warren stared at the portal. "Yeah, I'm really not sure I'm ready to take that leap off the deep end." He backed away from the portal. "But, um, be my guest."

Naminé curtsied lightly. "I understand. I'll be right back."

And with that she stepped through the portal, closing it behind her.
