Fourth floor common room: Thursday morning [before workshops]

It was Thursday morning. It was Karal's last day of classes. He'd woken up early, as per usual, and for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to attempt breakfast.

Karal had never cooked before. Ever. But there were eggs in the fridge, and milk, and cheese. A further rummage turned up bacon, onions and some mushrooms, and, well, a lot of other things he didn't recognise. He left those where they were.

"I think I can make an omelette from these," he told Altra, who was perched on a chair, watching him. "I am fairly certain I know what one is."

:This will end well,: the 'cat drawled, shaking his head.

"No, I am sure I know what it is. Eggs and other things, all cooked up together." He surveyed the ingredients and nodded firmly, pulling out a frying pan. "It cannot be that difficult."

Altra facepawed. Luckily there was coffee already brewed, which Karal did know how to make.

[ooc: open, of course!]

"Hm." Gavin looked at the cocktail sauce. "Maybe one egg with ketchup and one with chocolate and add the wasabi?"

"Sounds good to me!" Luke said.

Eww.

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
This was going to go so bad.

"I've never cooked anything here before," Gavin admitted. "Have you? I don't want to start a fire."

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I cooked with Hamlet when he was insane one day," Luke said casually. "It involved hitting things with a bat."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Bats?" Gavin asked. "Did the food come out good?"

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke didn't really remember.

"Sure!" he said.

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should I go find something to beat the eggs with?"

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good idea," Luke agreed. "Shells are nasty to eat here too."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Be right back."

And he was gone for a few minutes before reappearing with a textbook. "Is this good?"

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke burst out laughing. "I think that'll work. It's going to be messy, though."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was either this or one of my boots," Gavin said and handed him the book.

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ew," Luke said, wrinkling his nose up. "Is this how Karal did it?" he asked as he held the book high in the air. "Hamlet thought he was a chef, so I'm guessing this is right..."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Karal didn't beat the eggs that I saw," Gavin said. "So, I don't know. This is right."

No, it wasn't.

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Here goes, then," Luke said, hitting an egg with the book.

Which went as well as you'd expect.

"...ew."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"That didn't go well," Gavin said obviously.

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah," Luke whined, handing the book to Gavin. "You try."

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay." Gavin grabbed another egg and, instead of hitting it with the book, dropped the book on the egg.

Again, it worked as well as you'd expect.

"Huh. Are we doing this wrong?"

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"We must be," Luke decided. "Maybe stick them in a bowl first, then hit them and take all the shell out?"

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Is there a bowl around here?" Gavin asked, staring at the mess.

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's got to be," Luke said, rummaging around and emerging triumphant with a mixing bowl.

An enormous mixing bowl.

"How many eggs do you think it would take to fill this thing?" he asked, boggling.

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"A lot," Gavin said, wide eyed. "Should we fill it to the top?"

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"How hungry are you?" Luke asked.

Aunt Beru had been very, very hard on people who wasted food.

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"I could eat," he said. "A lot. I'm hungry."

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"In that case, let's fill it up!"

[identity profile] sixstandingby.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"All right!" And Gavin started dumping eggs into the bowl.
