First Floor Lobby, evening

After visiting the big picnic, and picking out most of the new people by sight, Evie retired back to the dorms and settled into the lobby couch to people-watch. With a book. Or possibly, five.

"It's all music," Demyx told him feelingly. "That's what matters most. But I like music you can dance to. I actually have Dancers. Or...well, I did." For a moment, he looked sad, but he perked back up quickly. "That's okay, though. They weren't very good."

"Were they..." A.J. drew in a breath, hoping he didn't regret asking this, "made of water and air, too?"

"No," Demyx replied, laughing. "Of course not."

"Well," A.J. blinked, feeling that that was very anticlimactic, now, wasn't it? "Um, good. And, well...should you need dancers, sir," he adopted a bit of a formal, business-like tone, "I offer you to you my services. I'm quite skilled in the performance art of Bad White Jersey Boy Dancing."

"But you aren't a Nobody," Demyx pointed out, staring at A.J. "How can you be a Dancer without being a Nobody?" It might not seem like a confusing thing for a normal person who didn't notice the capitalizations.

A.J. definitely didn't notice the capitalizations. He might, on a day he was feeling perceptive and not buzzed, but this wasn't only of those days. "But anyone can dance..." he said, warily, trying not to frown like a kicked puppy, but that just sort of happened beyond his control.

"Yeah, but...well, I guess I'd have to see you dance. There's not really very many Nobodies here." He looked sad. "I'm not one-of-a-kind, exactly, but we're a rare breed."

A.J. frowned worriedly, for the sake of his comprehension and his sanity. "But you're obviously somebody, 'cause your right there...."

"Well, no." Demyx rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think. "Um...didn't you say you didn't want the 'weird stuff' tonight? Because it tends to confuse people."

A.J. slumped his shoulders slightly. It was the kind of move that suggested he wanted to slump on Demyx, slump on someone but he didn't want to be rude. "I'm already confused."

Demyx reacted without thinking, putting an arm around A.J. and patting his shoulder. "It's okay. You really do get used to it. Even I've managed to turn out okay. It's just a lot at first, huh?"

A.J. sighed heavily. "Uh, yeah. And the...well, the drinking probably isn't helping." He let out a small laugh.

"Drinking always makes things worse," Demyx agreed, wrinkling his nose at a few particular memories. "There was no glitter involved, right?"

"Glitter?" A.J.'s laugh was a confused one, yes.

"Glitter makes for boykissy," Demyx told him seriously, leaning a little closer than most people would call comfortable.

Especially after mentioning boykissy. "W...what?" A.J. tried to laugh in a way that didn't him sound nervous about the sudden proximity, but did a rather poor job of it. He also wasn't as subtle as he'd like to have been in his straighting up and shuffling back a little under the pretenses of fixing his shirt by pulling up the shoulders slightly, an action that could only be done if he'd gotten out from under Dexyx's arm. "Definitely not glitter involved, assuming boykissy means what I think it means."

"What's wrong with boykissy?" Demyx asked curiously. "It's no different than any other form of kissy, after all."

"Yeah, except it's with a boy," A.J. pointed out. "Some people like kissy..." He shook his head. Why was he saying 'kissy?' "Kissing girls. Not saying anything's wrong with, y'know, it's just....y'know..." He shifted a little, shrugging his shoulders up, and there might have been a slight blush involved. This...this Demyx guy wasn't...hitting on him, was he?

Demyx? Hitting on someone? No waaaaaay, never! He was just being friendly! Really!

"So, you're afraid of the boykissy, then?" The Nobody persisted, not letting it drop. "Boys, girls...boys who look like girls...why does it matter?"

"See? I'll prove it." Demyx reached out to snag Haku's hand, pulling him close and kissing him.

Haku's eyes widened as Demyx kissed him and in an instant there was a very sharp accupunture needle against his neck. "Let. Go. NOW!"

Demyx laughed nervously and raised his hands in the air in the universal gesture of surrender. "Okay, maybe that wasn't such a great idea..."

And a very natural instinct rose up in A.J., moving toward Demyx and pushing him back by the shoulders, despite that he had relinquished and despite the fact that A.J. was no one to ever pick a fight. Ever. Especially when Haku had it perfectly under control, unbeknowest to him. "Hey! What the fuck, man?"

Demyx flailed. "What!? He's a dude, dude! He can protect himself fine! Or are you not seeing the needles of stabby pain??"

Haku smacked himself on the forehead. "And you wonder why people want to throw things at you?"

"He's a...." A.J. blinked, looking over at Haku briefly, flustered for a moment and then shouted, "That doesn't matter! You don't just grab someone and do that!"
