First Floor Lobby, evening

After visiting the big picnic, and picking out most of the new people by sight, Evie retired back to the dorms and settled into the lobby couch to people-watch. With a book. Or possibly, five.

Were anyone to wonder if Anne was, perhaps, avoiding her room, she would hedge a bit and finally admit in very roundabout terms that yes, she was doing just that.

At any rate, a pale, wide-eyed redheaded girl was wandering through the dorm lobby wringing her hands when she spotted Evie's collection of books. Sensing a possible kindred spirit, she approached tentatively.

"Pardon me," she said, for good manners were not to be discarded even in circumstances so unexpected, "but oh, do you love to read too?"

It wasn't polite to assume, after all.

Evie looked up immediately, and smiled hugely. "Definitely! Oh, hello! Welcome to the school! You're new, aren't you?" She cleared a couple books from one of the cushions, so the new girl could sit down. "I'm Evie Carnahan."

"Only just arrived this morning," Anne said with a cordial if reserved smile. "I was supposed to be on my way to Queen's, and then I got caught up in imagining this place and now here I am, and I'm supposed to share my room with a boy even if he is a very kind and gallant one, and oh, I feel so dreadfully green and provincial and -- "

She managed, somehow, to draw herself up and take a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Evie, it truly is a pleasure to meet you. I'm Anne Shirley -- that's Anne-spelt-with-an-e," she added with all the importance due the fact.

Demyx had been mostly avoiding the big picnic because the mun's computer can't handle it, but he'd noticed the new students from afar. "Is it new person time already?" he asked Evie curiously, stopping by her claimed couch.

"It is," Evie said, looking up from her book, and smiling. "Hullo. It's sooner than usual, though. The last ones just arrived six weeks ago."

"Hi. That's kinda cool, though." Demyx grinned sheepishly. "Met anybody that we should point in Deadpool's direction if he teaches another Driver's Ed class?"

Anne simply couldn't help herself. It wasn't polite to stare, but she had never seen someone whose hair appeared to defy the laws of gravity before.

Evidently, it robbed her of her ability to speak.

Demyx tilted his head to the side, looking at Anne. "Uh, hi?"

After a brief trip to check out Caritas (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1832979.html?thread=84338195#t84338195), A.J. headed back into the doors, on his way back up to his room, but he was stopped when he glanced over at the girl with all the books. He backed up, and leaned on the back of the couch as he leaned in. "Quite a selection," he commented, giving her a smile.

"It is a bit much, but I couldn't decide on which book to bring down here, and I hate being caught with one I don't want to read," Evie explained, smiling up at him. "Hullo, you're new! I'm Evie. Carnahan."

"A.J.," he smiled back. "Nice meetin' ya, Evie. Wait. Eve? You're Abigail's roommate?"

Demyx waved at A.J. "Hey, new guy right?"

A.J. gave a short wave back. "Yup. Name's A.J. You a new guy? Old guy? In-between guy?"

"Wow, that's quite a few books," Haku smiled as he paused coming into the dorms.

Wow that was a pretty girl. Bart stared openly at Haku for-a minute-ever.

Haku caught sight of someone for a moment.

Or at least he thought he did? "What the-?"

"Yes it is," Evie said a little absently, then smiled up from the pages of Desire in the Desert. "It means I can read any of them without having to go back to my room." She cocked her head. "Forgive me, but I think I've seen you around, but don't know your name-- I'm Evie."

"Haku," he smiled. "It's nice to meet you Evie. I think I might have seen you when you went into Deadpool's classes." Haku explained and looked through the stack.

"Are these any good? I've never really had a chance to read for fun so I'm never sure where to start."

"Are you one of those big reading types?" Demyx asked curiously. Then he paused. "Are you a girl?"

"Yes, and no," Haku smirked, letting Demyx come to his own conclussions.

A.J. couldn't help it. From where he was sitting, slightly buzzed on the lobby couch, he gave that pretty Asian girl a big, dorky smile.

Haku smiled back and tilted his head curiously at the boy on the couch. "Are you new?"

Bart was running wandering around the dorm, getting used to the place when he stopped to peer over at Evie's books. He stared for a bit, trying to figure out the words on them.

"Hullo?" Evie asked, looking up from History of the Roman Empire. "I'm Evie, welcome to Fandom. Do you like books too?"

"Yes. Kinda?" He reached for one of the books, pausing just before getting there because that was rude and Grandma Iris would kill him if he did that. "I'm Bart." He looked at the books. At Evie. At the books.
