Third Floor Common Room, after workshops

Wearing the thick sweater and tweed pants Umbridge spelled onto his body, Johnny was grumpy as he sat down to find some sports on TV. The sweater was itchy and the pants were just ew. Like something someone's grandpa would wear. What the hell?

He was really kind of pissed his acting didn't work any better than it did. He could have totally burned to death and she wouldn't have touched him. Not even a stop, drop, and roll. The woman was freaking crazy.

"Maaaan, this sucks."

"I've avoided her," River said quietly. "Might loose my temper."

"I tried to disrupt her by flailing before her on fire," he remarked dryly. "Wouldn't save me to save her life. She did try a bit of water though."

River snorted. "Didn't try to set her on fire in return?"

"I thought about it," he said with a slight grin. "Not sure how well that would have went over."

Laughing, River said: "Wise. I am trying to stay away from magic punishments. Prefer magic for entertainment."

"And I would like to break that wooden stick of hers, or do something else with it that I just won't mention in front of girls."

River raised an eyebrow. "You don't have to mention it to me. You already have."

"Maaan! I forgot you can do that!" Johnny said and ran his hand back through his hair. "This is difficult you know."

"No, it's not," River objected, smiling at Johnny. "Just no use worrying about it."

"What if I was thinking something about you? Would you hold it against me?"

"Why would I?" River asked. "You'd think worse things about me than anyone else?" She looked amused.

"Did I say worse?" Johnny asked. "No, I did not. Just things. You know, like a guy might think about a girl."

With a giggle River replied: "And why would I hold that against you?"

"You could be like one of those girls who, I don't know, likes to tease guys with what they know." Johnny was just rambling now, trying to really just get away from knowing she can read his thoughts.

And that was quite easy to see through, of course. "Not a very flattering thing to say," River replied, putting on her best mock hurt look.

Ah, maaan. "No, I didn't mean that in a bad way. I meant, I mean, I'm not sure. I just...crap. I'm sure you don't tease guys unless you know those guys like to be teased. Right?"

"If I hurt people I feel it," River replied, suddenly looking serious for a second, then she smiled again. "And you don't like being teased?"

Johnny frowned slightly, thinking about that. He would never think she would hurt anyone.

"I might like some form of teasing, River," he grinned at her, arching a brow.

"If you like it and it makes you happy I will feel that too," River said, grinning back. "Would happily tease you in a way you like."

"River, you possibly don't know what it is you just said," Johnny said, looking down and grinning and trying not to think about her teasing him in any way he liked.

"I don't?" River managed to look very innocent. "In that case you will have to clarify." Which was of course quite unnecessary, but also part of the teasing.

"No. You couldn't else you wouldn't have said that and what? Clarify?" Umm. "No. Possibly not a good idea for me to clarify because that would just make you blush and me blush maybe."

"Thought blushing was part of the fun," River replied, the innocent look fading somewhat. "I may be mistaken."

"Blushing is cute," Johnny said. "On girls." Pause. "Okay it might be cute on guys too. What do you think?"

"Can be cute on both," River replied. "So do you try to make people blush because it's cute?"
