It was slowly ticking towards curfew but it wasn't bothering Luke overly much. He'd discovered a marathon of old Galaxy Quest episodes and was entirely too caught up in laughing until he cried at the terrible dialogue and sound effects.

He'd made popcorn--without burning it!--and even though he'd then dumped a bag of M&Ms into it, he was up for sharing.

"Nesmith is the cool captain. He gets the girl and saves the day. The other guy mostly drank tea. Really weak breakfast tea," John attempted a better explanation.

Luke wrinkled up his nose. "He seems to have a thing for many-breasted women in tiny skirts," he said.

Then he sighed.

"Aunt Beru said that's how nice boys get nasty diseases."

"Well, here on Earth we have things that help avoid the nasty diseases," John said, trying not to smile too widely.

"Oh, so did we," Luke said, blushing furiously, "but when you live on a farm and the biggest town around...isn't that big, buying such things gets you in trouble at home."

"The curse of the small town," John nodded knowingly. "I never did understand that. You'd think they'd all just be happy you were being safe and not making out with your sister."

"And thanks so much for that, George, wtf. I think they'd just rather I never have those kinds of thoughts in my entire life," Luke admitted ruefully.

"Look on the bright side, you're here in the land of the hot girls and they sell anything you could ever need at Turtle & Canary," John informed Luke oh so helpfully and cheerfully.

Luke looked dangerously close to death by spontaneous combustion. "Good to know," he squeaked.

"Always willing to help," John replied, propping his feet up and watching the screen. "You think the scientist guy is mad at the captain for a reason?"

"I'm thinking there was a prank of some kind. Or a bad break up."

"With that glare, I'm going with break up."

"He couldn't have been surprised that he slept with that chick with the legs and the head tentacles, could he? He does that every episode!"

"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" John nodded. "I suspect they have some sort of agreement about these things."

"Maybe he gave him one of those diseases you're not supposed to have?" Luke guessed, "but they can't talk about that on the holovids?"

"Ouch, that's rough. I'd like to hear them explain that one to the doctor."

"Do you think they'd need charts?" Luke asked.

"Charts and diagrams might be over the top, but they'd blow the doctor's mind. Unless he's in on it."

"I have a friend who's convinced charts are the answers to everything," Luke commented with a small smile.

"Who's that?" John asked, curiosity peaked.

"Rory Gilmore," Luke said, grin getting wider.

John shook his head, "Don't think I know her."

"Brown hair, blue eyes, dated my father for a while..." Luke paused. "My life is strange."
