Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Morning

Meg didn't have class until Wednesday but she didn't want to get in the habit of sleeping in all day so when she woke up she got dressed and decided to check out the common room. It wasn't long before she was digging around in the kitchen and soon after she had eggs, bacon and pancakes cooking on the stove.

She had heard about the food sharing thing and was doing her best to make enough for anyone who stopped in.

[Open! There's food!]

Sabriel followed the smell of food into the common room, hoping that whoeever was cooking was better at it than she was. "Hello?"

Sabriel smiled. "Thank you. I'm Sabriel, I live just down the hall." She paused. "Have I met you before?"

"It's nice to meet you, Meg." Sabriel approached the food. It smelled good and it was making her even hungrier. "I'm in 219."

Leaking, leaking, leaking in, like water through a siv, which is what Adah's brain was threatening to be as it became more difficult for her to focus and click onto conversations she shouldn't be clicking onto anyway. She considered, instead of dragging out her breakfast for the purpose of collecting up names in her head like bugs in a jar, finishing up quickly and limping back to her room, but she had the fortune of catching yet another introduction and getting a bit caught up in Sabriel's name.

The names would always get her. Sabriel, one letter off from Gabriel, archangel, a master, of god, Hebrew. Not just one letter off, but an S, a crooked letter, a bent, smooth in its twisting. S is for serpent, for snake, for sidewinder, who marks its letter in the sand as it slithers, slithers. She thought of Lee the Eel, his fingers in the grass, and wondered if she'd just burned into her head an image of Sabriel as a snake.

"Hi, have we met yet?"
