Third floor common room, Thursday evening

Why yes, that was a motorcycle in the common room. And yes, that was the floor length common room window opened as wide as it would go. And that was in fact a guy dressed in a very nice looking white leather racing suit with orange flames decals on it.

If it looked like he was preparing to do something very stupid in very public area, that was probably a trick of the light.

Johnny forgot what floor he lived on, shut up, and wandered in only to pause, stare, and grin wide at Blaze. "What in the hell are you fixing to do?"

Johnny tried to look as innocent as possibly under the circumstances, failed miserably, but grinned anyway.

"Nuthin'", he said, with the air of a person who was totally up to something.

"Uh-huh," Johnny said as he walked over to the motorcycle and checked out Blaze. "Nice duds. And you can't seriously be thinking you'll live."

Blackheart was grinning a little at that. Him not making it was half the point, after all.

"Oh, he's got it all planned out. Even got a handwavey ramp made of dirt on the other end."

"Does he now?" Johnny eyed the boy he had yet to meet. "Johnny Storm, and you are?" He extended his hand, making it a touch hot.

"Blackheart," the demon said with a smug smile, taking the hand- his own was more than a touch cold.

The hot went rather unnoticed. Nice and homey, that fire.

"Thanks. My Dad had 'em made up."

He just shrugged at Storm's statement and patted the seat of his bike like he would the shoulder of an old friend. " "ve done all I can to set up safety measures outside. An' if I miss, broken bones'll mend in time."

Thinking about the possibility of dying was too far in the future for him to consider.

"Dad's got good taste." He moved towards the open window and looked down. He clucked his tongue. "I don't know, Blaze. No practice runs here."

"You know, this is ridiculously reckless," Blackheart reminded Blaze with a grin.

Which didn't mean in any way that he was protesting this feat of stupid.

In fact, he was the one who was going to be sitting behind Johnny on the back of the bike.

Johnny was grinning from ear to ear.

" 'S the best kind of reckless," he said. "Think of how impressive it's gonna be to watch."

"I get the best seat," Blackheart reminded him with a smirk.

Riding on the back of a man-made motorcycle.

His father would hate that.

There was a technical term for the seat on the back of the bike that started with the same letter as 'best', but Johnny wasn't going to mention it.

"Kinda. You're gonna have to look over my shoulder to see us go down. An' there's no way you're gettin' outta wearing a helmet."

Hoshi hadn't planned on stopping on the third floor, but how could she miss this? "Okay, I'm starting to think this is the fun floor."

Johnny didn't recognize Hoshi, but he still waved excitedly at her anyway.

"Stick around. There should be quite a show comin' up."

"I won't be expected to participate, will I?" asked Hoshi, warily looking at the motorcycle. "This looks a bit more difficult than the slip and slide thing from the other night."

He shook his head in response.

"Nah. Wouldn't let anyone who hasn't had any training try this. Jus' gonna be me an' him--" He jerked his thumb back towards Blackheart. "--doin' this."

Blaze picked up a pair of helmets from off the common room couch, and tossed one to Blackheart.

"You ready to do this?"

Blackheart was ever ready to see Blaze crash and burn.

Even if he had to wear this stupid helmet to do it.

Blaze put his own helmet on and closed his eyes. He tried to settle his mind and focus completely on what he was trying to do. He breathed deeply in and out. He could do this. He had to believe that he could.

And not think about the ground below at all.

Johnny's eyes snapped open, and he pushed the throttle forward while leaving the brake on. The wheels squealed as they span in place, gaining ever more compressed speed. Johnny watched as the needle crept its way up the speedometer, and as soon as it reached a point he was happy with, he flicked off the brake switch. The bike speed forward at an alarming speed.
