Fourth floor common room: Monday Evening

Karal was very deliberately spending the evening doing something just for him, something that involved no work or stress whatsoever.

He was curled in a chair in the common room, reading The Hobbit Halfling, and really getting into it. There were occasional exclamations of surprise or excitement, but they were in Karsite, so they probably sounded a little strange.

The television was on, providing some background noise, but he wasn't watching it. Didn't mean other people couldn't, however.

"No, capitalism is a way of running an economy," Jim said. "That's probably something to ask Professor Lyman about, though."

He blinked, really not getting the link between economy and sport, and decided maybe he didn't want to know. "All right," he said agreeably. "Is one of these teams one you like?"

"I prefer the Colorado Rockies," Jim said. "It's a better story, they really had to play hard at the end of the season to make it this far. But my team already made it into the playoffs. The Philadelphia Phillies."

"Congratulations!" It seemed the thing to say. "So they will play whoever wins this game?"

"Yeah, actually," Jim said. "Then whomever wins plays another team for the right to play in the championship series."

"It's quite complicated, isn't it? Perhaps that's why they get paid so much," he ventured.
