Fourth floor common room: Monday Evening

Karal was very deliberately spending the evening doing something just for him, something that involved no work or stress whatsoever.

He was curled in a chair in the common room, reading The Hobbit Halfling, and really getting into it. There were occasional exclamations of surprise or excitement, but they were in Karsite, so they probably sounded a little strange.

The television was on, providing some background noise, but he wasn't watching it. Didn't mean other people couldn't, however.

Having nothing better to do, Jim went up to the fourth floor. "Hey. What's on?"

Karal looked from his book, glanced at the TV, then smiled. "I must confess, I have no idea. It was on when I arrived," he said. "I don't believe we've met, have we? I'm Karal."

"I don't think so," Jim said. "Jim Halpert. So you don't mind if I change the channel?"

Luke had a fiendish plan: if he wasn't on his floor, no one could find him.

This wasn't exactly a flawless plan, mind.

He snuck into the common room and found a spot on the couch.

Karal blinked at the sneaking and lowered his book. "Good evening, Luke. Would you like me to pretend I don't see you?"

Luke thought about it for a moment, then snickered and shook his head. "I think my secret's out," he said. "Hopefully Dawn and Rikku don't still think I owe them money."

"Is everything okay?" Jim asked, making a confused face at Luke.

"It was a kind of bizarre weekend," Luke said, understating things by quite a bit.

Meg had heard about Luke on the radio so she gave him a sympathetic smile when she saw him. "Hi, Luke."

"Hey, Meg," Luke said, cheeks turning pink. "Have you seen your not-a-sister today?"

Meg had decided to come out of hiding long enough to grab a bowl of cereal. But she decided to go to a floor she didn't live on.

"Hi." she said, when she came in.

Karal smiled at her, just a little bit shyly. "Good evening," he said with a small wave.

"Just stealing some cereal." she said. "I'm kind of avoiding my own floor. I don't need anyone else telling me about my weekend excursions."

"Hi," Jim said. "Have we met before?"

"I don't think so. Unless you've met Jo Harvelle and in that case you didn't actually meet me; just someone who looked like me." she said. "I'm Meg Manning."

Molly was actually on her way down to visit Karal and just happened to glance into the common room. Spotting a head of curls that she recognized, she smiled and headed into the room.

"Hello, my Karal," she said as she approached where he was sitting.

He looked up and smiled warmly at her. "Molly, hello. How are you this evening?" It was automatic to shift over on the chair to make some, granted not very much, space for her. "Would you like to sit down?"

"Yes, I would," she said with an amused grin and joined him in the chair, not minding the minimal space.

"I'm good this evening," she added. "You being here and not in Valdemar makes everything better."

After spending most of the afternoon in his room, Adam figured it was safe to venture out into the common room.

And to search for something to drink.

"Good evening, Adam," Karal called. "Did you escape the weekend unscathed?"

"Hello, Karal," Adam smiled. "Not exactly, no. You?"

"Hey," Jim said when Adam walked in. "How are you tonight?"

Jenny decided to brave other people and visit her common room. "Hello," she said to the room at large as a greeting, and lit up another cigarette. She'd pretty much been chain smoking since she'd regained her senses.

Karal replied with, "Good evening," but he was looking askance at her cigarette.
